Yeh I noticed the "dependency" error and tried googling re samba but not discovered anything yet.

The only other drive attached is a SATA drive with Win10-Home in the system: http://sprunge.us/HXOh
Here's the output from df :
sda is the SATA drive.
sda2 is the EFI partition
sda4 is the Win10 OS partition
sda5 is the Win10 User data partition
sda6 is the Acer Recovery Partition (they seemed to have named it Push Button Reset)
