Hehe, I'll give it a shot, but its a bit tricky.

I see that in my original post i reported this affecting LE7 and LE8 alpha builds.
In the thread other have reported the same issue and refer to one of your 4.8 kernel based builds to fix it.
At some point in the LE8 releases 8.0/8.1 this was fixed because I forgot about this problem for a long while.
It seems to have reemerged in one the latest LE 8.2 releases. It actually is a problem om the latest LE release as well.

Alas, it probably not directly linked to one of your builds, but rather some regression in the LE8 branch that yours are based on.
I'll see if I can fine the time to cherry pick some of your older builds, starting with the oldest to check and try to narrow it down a bit.

Is it okay to downgrade thru your older testbuilds?

Regards,
Wish

With or without Emby installed, I'm getting no HW accel on HEVC of any kind. If anyone can lead me to a solution, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.
Is there a way to reset cfg from the ssh terminal?

My Milhouse is now giving me black screen with cursor at boot after a crash, and rebooting/restarting is not having any effect.

Thx

Can you run "journalctl -a | pastebinit" and paste the link?

To reset kodi:
Code:
systemctl stop kodi
mv .kodi .kodi.bak
reboot

Can you try without Emby so that Emby doesn't clutter the log with spam, and there is no attempt to transcode video? Disable Emby, enable debug logging, reboot, then play one HEVC encoded video (preferably from local storage, and not a playlist), then stop the video and upload the complete debug log.

Note that not all HEVC encoded videos will be hardware decoded - check the Player Process info ("O" - letter oh - on keyboard) during playback and if it shows "Pixel format: yuv420p" then software decode is to be expected (at least on my Skylake NUC - fritsch will have more insight...).

Fritsch is snowboarding... don't expect answers in time.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

no issues with HEVC hw decoding with 0311 on a KBL NUC, other than yuv420 which as you mentioned is sw decoded (has this always been the case?)
(2018-03-12, 17:50)Matt Devo Wrote: has this always been the case?

For as long as I can remember yuv420p content has always behaved that way, being software decoded rather than VAAPI hardware decoded, and I always thought this was expected but maybe someone more knowledgeable (that isn't having fun on the piste Smile) can confirm/deny/explain...
