Hi guys,
So for AMD, this means that you can now use VAAPI instead of VDPAU and it should support most of the things VDPAU did plus HEVC10 hardware decoding if your hardware is capable (since UVD 6, so about 3rd gen GCN). Generally speaking, you should no longer use VDPAU on AMD hardware.
It also affects intel GPUs, except there everything should work as before. NVIDIA is not affected since the binary drivers do not support VAAPI.
Quote:Build Highlights:would be nice if you give this one a big round of testing, basically we now use a more modern code path for VAAPI on drivers that support it, which enables us for the first time to decode with VAAPI on mesa/radeon.
- VAAPI support (HEVC, 10-bit etc.) for recent AMD GPUs
