Yep, the
.kodi folder would be in the root of the storage (second) partition. It might be hidden, so make sure that's not the issue. It does sound like your SSD has experienced a hardware fault so data (including filesystem meta data) might be corrupted. Highly unlikely to have been caused by 9.0.1, the failure is likely to be just one of those unfortunate things that happens every now and again, I'm afraid.
