Hi all. Just got my Fire Stick and trying to download Kodi and whatever other programs so I can watch movies and shows. I've been through multiple youtube videos and have been able to DL Kodi but I only get so far. Each youtuber does it differently and it seems I get to a point where what's on my screen is different than theirs. After couple days of "trying" to patch this all together I'm stuck,...and I'm not even sure what I've done so far is right. So I found this forum. I looked at the FAQ's and such before posting so I apologize if my questions are covered. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of info here. It also seems that the info here is much more advanced than I can comprehend so it's possible the answer is in front of me but I don't see it.

I'm pretty computer handy. Hoping I can get some guidance, a link or something to help get me over the hump.

What I have...
Brand new latest gen fire stick, cable company provided wifi, smart home theater all connected to my tv.

I'm trying to download without my phone or laptop. Every posting I see seems to say this is the easiest way.

All the youtubers and other Google searched postings say to DL Kodi's Android version. Why is this? Is it because the Fire Stick likes Android OS? (Not sure the answer is relevant but may help me understand all this better)

I already have Kodi installed but not sure I have the right version. It says "Build: Kodi 17.0-RC2 Git:bunch of #'s....(not sure if these other #'s are relevant). See below question for more on this....

Once I get to the Kodi download page they all tell me to DL the Androind ARM version. ***Problem is on their (youtubers and others) instructions it only shows "ARM" as a single choice. On the Kodi site it gives 4 choices. Release & Nightly build and 7a 32 bit & 8a 64 bit. I installed release build 7a but have no idea if this was the right choice? Advice?

Once I know from you guys if I have the right version installed I may have a follow up. If I have the wrong v, maybe this will help fix my next problem of not being able to figure out how to load the apps or add ons (not sure of terminology) so that I can watch movies/shows. I'm about halfway through a "how to" video of what to do once Kodi installed but stuck.

Thanks so much in advance!!!

Welcome.

As your are new I would start with the latest stable release (16.1) not the release candidate Krypton (17). You can get the APK from:

https://kodi.tv/download/

Scroll down to the current release section and pick the Android ARM APK.

Another alternative is to use SPMC:

http://spmc.semperpax.com/

Ahhh,...I see. Every tutorial was showing the Jarvis release which has the ARM APK. I was looking at the Krypton section because 1) it shows up first and 2) they did not specify to scroll down further to Jarvis. Thanks so much!!!

I'll read the rules section in more detail. Thanks again!

Sorry,...forgot to ask. Should I delete the version I downloaded? Or will that make things worse?

If you installed Krypton, then yes you'll have to uninstall that version to install Jarvis. You can update from one version to the other, but you can not downgrade without uninstalling first.

For SPMC, it has a different signature and can be installed along side of Kodi, so you can try both if you like.

As for following instructions on Youtube. You should be careful about doing so as most with either instruct you to install some custom build or in how to install Banned add-ons (wiki) both of which you will not get any support for here. For most instructions the first place to start is the Kodi wiki and for Fire TV devices here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Amazon_Fire_TV
