Upscale to 4k - Kodi or TV ?

I'm using a rather old HTPC with a Geforce card running Libreelec 8.0.2. I've upgraded my TV to an LG OLED C7 a few days ago. I would like to be sure that the upscaling is done by the TV. Do I have to modify anything or it's the default setting ?

Thanks Wink

Just leave the HTPC / Android / Kodi GUI resolution at 1080p. Then all 1080p content will be output at 1080p and upscaled by a 4K TV.

Select system resolution to 480 / 576 / 720 - whatever your system allows. You may need to disable Kodi's adjust display refresh rate as it may Autoswitch to a 1080p system resolution otherwise.

480 / 576 / 720 will then be output at that system resolution and upscaled by your 4K TV. No amount of tweaking/manipulating is going to improve poor original low bitrate SD video content when displayed on a 4K TV Wink

Yes its all a bit confusing.

What you have to remember is the On Screen Display popup on your TV will be telling you the video output resolution from your media player.
This is not always the resolution of the actual video content being played.
