Mi Box Multiple USB Input
#1
Have not been able to find any info on this. Using a USB hub I would like to add the following

1. An 8 TB hard drive with videos in both .ISO and MP4
2. A USB stick to expand the internal memory

I'm wondering since they are both going into the single USB input on the MI Box is it possible to have both an external Hard Dive and Internal expansion stick without any conflicts ? Is it a matter of one or the other, or will the MI Box see them as separate entities ?

Why not just use the 8TB hard drive to expand the internal memory and store your media?

I've used multiple hard drives on an android tablet before (via otg / usb hub) and it worked. That doesn't mean it'll work on every device, obviously. Why not just try it? If you're worried about losing your 8TB of data try with a couple of usb sticks.

Good point 808. I did consider that but I wanted to have the option of adding another drive in the future should I need to. And we usually do, don't we.

In that case I would need to have 2 external drives w/ videos and an additional drive to expand the internal memory all attached simultaneously.

I haven't actually bought the Mi Box yet, I'm trying to determine if it will do what I need first.

It's not the attaching multiple hard drives I'm concerned about. It's that I would be attaching multiple hard drives that would be functioning in different ways to the same USB input. Will it see them independently ?

I'll be having one or more drives functioning as external media drives and another drive/ usb stick functioning as internal memory expansion all attached to the same input. I'm concerned it will see all drives as either one or the other. Some type of conflict of sorts.

Will the Mi Box allow me to assign each independently ?

From the U9 (Android Marshmallow) post I wrote recently:

From general reading it appears that to connect Multiple drives to Android boxes you have to:

- Root the device - you cannot easily or permanently with a Mi Box
- Use [root] StickMount App from Chainfire.

Windows/Linux/LibreELEC Kodi boxes have no such problems.

Most of us want nothing to do with Android Adoptable Storage - and especially Multiple USB HDD connections with Android.
Use a NAS or even a Home router with USB HDD file sharing capabilities would be preferable than stuffing about with Android limitations.

Thanks wrxtasy, I'll have to look elsewhere. I'm glad I asked first, before picking one up.
