Alternative path for media
#1
Hello there, and sorry if I post in the wrong section.

I use Kodi on a Raspberry Pi (with OSMC) and I have several HD: the main one with my medias and some smallers which are backups (one for movies, one for series, ...)
I'd like to index the content of my backups without having multiple entries for the same file.

I didn't find any plugin nor tip to do this. It could be interresting to have a feature like that, which just add a path for a file and not a full entry in the DB.

If it already exists, how to enable it ?

Thanks by advance.

Regards

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Indexing multiple disks with similar movies/series will get you multiple entries in the video library. Kodi stores/indexes every video using its complete path. Any deviation from that will get you another video entry in the database.

One solution might be using Profiles and using separate databases.
Or, in a quircky way, get all videos in the databases as doubles/triples/whatever, and use smart playlists to 'undouble' your lists. But that is probably an unworkable video environment.

All videos, current and backups, in one database will very likely get you in a very confusing Kodi environment.
