I have several old shows whcih I just stared watching, so I have several seasons on my watchlist, what I want is a way to simply highlight the show and from the context menu have a "first unwatched" option to start the first episode that I haven't watched yet.

For example if I've seen up to season 3 episode 7 I can just highlight the show from the main library menu and start episode 8.

In Kodi skin dependant, the watched/unwatched notice should be available but I can't think of how this would be handled in the code base, much better to be a skin feature. The skin I'm using shows me recently added directly on the home screen (yes not quite what you had in mind). Check out Add-on:LazyTV (wiki) if I'm not mistaken, it does this, then there are more sophisticated entries like PseudoTV https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=241600 or Add-on:Trakt (wiki) and if you really want to get your hands dirty a custom smart playlist might be possible.
