Kodi starts up off centered through HDMI
#1
I have Kodi installed on Ubuntu and everytime it starts up the program is slightly off centered to the right of the screen and in order to center it I have to unplug and replug the HDMI cable back into the port again.

I've tried both nightly and stable versions and this occurs on both of them.  This only occurs in Kodi and does not occur in Ubuntu or anywhere else.

Which Ubuntu build/version?
Which hardware?
Which GPU/graphics?

Sorry for all these questions, but our crystal ball is currently in the repair shop.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Thx.

You see:

GL_RENDERER = AMD ARUBA (DRM 2.50.0 / 4.15.0-36-generic, LLVM 6.0.0)

So no Intel integrated GPU for you Wink

One little thing...could you please check if it´s the same if you are using the default skin? As you are using Conflunce actually. If you can´t do it via the GUI because of that screen, then simply close Kodi, rename the .kodi folder like that: mv ~/.kodi kodi-backup and start kodi again. That´s like a factory reset.

You could also check if you are able to switch the view modes of your OS. As you are using an external screen, you should be able to switch between something like "duplicate/mirror screen" which means you will have the same screen on your monitor as on the laptop display, "extend screen" means you will have a dual-screen setup, "external" (or something similar) which should mean you would use the external monitor as the only available screen.

Most likely those can be switched by using a combination of the fn-keys and a specific "F"-key. There should be something related shown as a symbol on those keys.

Already tried FN screen key, doesn't work.  Skin is irrelevant, still occurs with all skins.  I can't do the duplicate screen because I'm outputting 1080p on the TV, but the laptop screen can't do 1080p.  The maximum the laptop screen can do is 1388x768, but the TV can't output that resolution.

Whenever there is a problem, it is recommended that you use Kodi's default system skin. It is what Kodi is designed to work with.
Kodi only supports multiple cloned screens with identical screen resolutions, as you already found out.

Try renaming your guisettings.xml file, and have Kodi recreate a fresh one. Perhaps the file got corrupted somehow.

Default skin and guisettings file renamed.  Same problem.
