I have been testing back and forth to find the right setup for Kodi. Bottomline is that I'm having problems playing UHD videos with a file size of +45GB.
Hardware:
Gaming machine: (Core i5-7600K)
Network: Gigabit
Philips Android TV (only 100 Mbit network)
Kodi 17.6 (also tried with 18.0)
External USB 3.0 hard drive (2TB)
This is what I have tried:
Setup 1:
Attached my USB drive to my gaming computer and used NFS for sharing files to Kodi on a Philips TV (android).
Result
This works perfect for HD files, but some UHD is lagging and getting ot of sync, mainly at places with high bitrate. On the source machine I kan see that the network load is about 60-70 Kbit/s.
Setup 2:
Attached the USB drive directly to the TV and played on Kodi.
Result
This doesn't work at all. It's even more laggy then over the network, which I find strange.
Setup 2:
Attached the USB dirve directly to the TV and played through the pre-installed player.
Result
This works just perfectly. No lag at all.
This made me wonder if it is Kodi that have an issue with the file. Thoughts?
