Kodi v18 Beta and RC davs or webdav no connection
#1
Hello, everybody,

I am new to the forum and also have a specific reason and a problem with the new version of Kodi 18.

I use a FireTV Kodi 17.6 and use the WEBDAV (https/davs) to connect to my server.
This works great.

But starting with KODI version 18 (BETA 1-5) or RC1-5.2 it doesn't work anymore.

From version 18 on KODI doesn't connect via a "davs" access anymore.

If I delete Kodi and use Kodi 17.6 again, everything works again. No Problems!

How can this problem, which really only exists from Kodi version 18 on, be forwarded to the developers?

Thank you very much.

I have exactly the same problem and also downgraded to Kodi 17.6 to make it work.  What a bummer!

I just tried.  "dav" (HTTP) is working on both Android and Windows, but "davs" (HTTPS) is not.  You may switch to "dav" as a short term fix.

This problem is not solved in latest stable v18.1 release that I installed from Google Play Store.

Dav connection works ok but Davs connection cannot connect to the share. I saw some other treads that is saying that problem is about installed SSL certificates. In my case I do not have any certificate installed.

I uninstalled v18.1 and installed v17.6 and Davs works ok.

Any idea how to fix this?

Here is the error messages I got from kodi log:

The shared folder is from Synology NAS and I do not have any certificates installed on it.

Kodi 18 now rejects the connection if the certificate isn't trusted (as it should do)

You probably need to add the cert from your device into Kodi, so it is trusted, read more on this thread

If thats too much work then may be easier to stick to standard http or other protocols

Thank you!

Trying to bypass restrictions on self signed certificate seemed too difficult for me.

Instead I got myself a Letsencrypt certificate and it is working ok now. Letsencrypt process was easy but I am not happy to keep my port 80 open to my NAS. Apparently it is required to be able to renew the certificate automatically.

I would still prefer a switch to ignore certificate verification for self signed certificates (like the verifypeer=false option that is discussed in other thread)
