Retried the test with Kodi RSS logging in the background. I do not see continuous memory allocation with VDPAU, memory is allocated and freed randomly. After stopping video player more memory is allocated than before, but this is most likely memory fragmentation. Sorry for the noise.
Using VAAPI there is more and more memory allocated over time, as @smp1 did report for Intel.
