Saving to SMB or AFP share?
#1
Hi,

I've just set up a Minix Z83-4 with Ubuntu for a secondary TV server. TVHeadend and Kodi install fine, but I am still a bit out of my depth how to save to my NAS drive.

I can find the NAS drive from Ubuntu, and it seems to 'best' find it with an AFP share (Mac and PC user), but I also have everything as SMB shares. Kodi on Ubuntu finds them fine.

So, here's the big question.

Will it work if I simply put either

afp://MyNAS/myfolder

or

SMB://Workgroup/MyNAS/myfolder

for the recording directory?

Or do I need to do something else?

Thanks!

Okay, so I managed to find what I needed

https://libreelec.wiki/how_to/mount_network_share

This works perfectly, so I now have a TvHeadEnd server running on LibreElec on a new Raspberry Pi 4. It is using my NAS for recording and timeshifting.

Tempting to get something like this

when it's updated for the RPi4, and have a dedicated SSD for recording.

When I think of the tower PCs I have used over the years to accomplish the same task, this is truly amazing!
