Solved How organize file and directory for saga
#1
Hello !
Since last update (matrix I think) The saga aren't functioning any-more.
In the listing of movie, the saga "directory" doesn't appear like before (with the 3 discs icone) but I have a x times the same film name in the main listing.
My organisation is like this:
/main directory/film's name (year)/film's name-sometime informations.avi  ex: /video/blade runner (1992)/blade runner (1992).avi
/main directory/saga's generic name/film's name (year).avi  ex: /video/james bond/goldfinger (1964).avi or video/james bond/goldfinger (1964)/goldfinger (1964).avi

It was working and, one day, no more functioning...
Perhaps an default option change or ? I don't know. What I would try is to put all film in the main directory.
I've searched hard here but found no indication about this in tuto and forum. Could anyone here help me ?
Thank's in advance.

I cannot imagine any problem that would selectively delete Saga data out of a library.
You are saying that you go into Sets, and it is completely empty? But the movies are still in the library?

Can you zip up and send me your MyVideos database in your Userdata (wiki) folder.

It's not really deleted! Perhaps I wasn't enough clear in my explanation. The line saga exist no more and the films aren't any more well recognized, they are all replaced by the same film and it could be not a good one. In fact it seem that when several films are in the same directory, even if each file .avi have the good title and date, they aren't any more well analyzed and listed.
Yes, I'll try to zip and send this in a few hours. Is it only myvideo119 that you want ?
Thank you a lot for your answer and help!

Could you post a screenshot of the problem. I want to make sure I clearly understand what you are saying.

Let me see your screenshot first as it sounds like a different problem than I first understood.

Also a screenshot of one of your problem movie folders so I can clearly see all the files in the folder.

Karellen,
I have looked on the Wiki For folder structure for movie sets and I do understand the artwork is now in it's own folder, but the movie folder I'm not really sure.

The movie folder would be named Movie sets and all movies that are apart of a collection would be thrown into the folder

or

Movie sets and inside would be lets say Lord of The Ring (collection) and all lord of the rings films placed inside that folder?

If you need screenshots just let me know

Movies don't need to be in a movie set folder. But if you prefer it that way, then that is ok. You can set them up like the image. \Movies- Sets\ is the Source I set in Kodi.

Movie Set Artwork is in another Source folder and you point Kodi to that folder in setting 3.9... https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Vi...ion_folder

That's exactly what I wanted to know. You set yours up with movies in the movie collection folder?

Yes, that is what I have done.

And then set the Movie Set Information Folder that holds your artwork according to this... https://kodi.wiki/view/Movie_set_information_folder
Don't put this inside another Source. Keep it separate.
But if you don't have any local artwork, then you don't need this. If you are using Artwork Dump, then you need this.

Yeah, I have the artwork folder set up already and used artwork beef.

I think I'm going to restructure the movie folder though. I placed them all in the movie sets folder but prefer them in movie sets and movie names collection folder.

Thanks for the help as always.

No, unfortunatly. I don't use local artwork.
My problem is the exact structure of directory containg the films.
Until now I was using a directory for each different film with for the directory and for the file inside the exact name and (date) of the film for both. And when there is more than one film (like james bond, lord of the ring, spider man...), I put a generic name for the directory and the films have the exact name with (date), all in the generic directory (james bond, spiderman,...).
This was working fine until the last update I think. But now, no more. Kodi don't see there is more than one film or if it sees it put x time the same file, the scrapping/scan  seem broken.

I have 7 screenshot but it's alittle big for here, may give a link from Mega here ?

So I use the video menu just before weather and favourite. Then choose file and then the good source and enter in my film directory.
Here I see all my structure where I separate iron man 1, 2 and 3 to have them showed in the film listing (menu 1) and this is not working.... I now, ask myself if it's finally a problem of scrapping.... but it's since the same update.
The question is why some film are recognized and not the other as I use tvdb to have the good name and (date). And I have anyway the same question about the structure for saga and single film.
Sorry to not be able to understand exactly where is the trouble...

Here is the first screen where we can see in the main directory that iron amn (2008) is well scanned (little icon) and the 2 and 3 no (big icon)

Image

And here we are in the generic directory james_bond where are all the james bond film. I've tried all files in the generic directory and, as here, all films in their own directory, nothing works.
Here we can see that the scan found and understand the casino royale (1967) and not the others like casino royale (2006). What is more surprising is that the 2006 is the real one and 1967 a "bonus" one.
Thanx for your help....

Can you provide a screenshot of your folder above so I can easier understand your setup. Thanks.
The other screenshots help me understand what is happening in Kodi, but I need to see the setup to understand why that is happening.

Well, not sure about what you would like to see. First: a screenshot of the film list (1st menu)
And then , the video setting in several menu

Tell me if it wasn't that or if I forgot something.
