PVR and mpeg2video

Is there a way to enable h/w playback of mpeg2video in PVR on Mac OS with Intel graphics?  It de-interlaces fine but the CPU use is quite high.   h264 PVR uses h/w and it very low.

Essentially ffmpeg didnt do hardware deinterlacing, as apple provided flakey to non existent support for hardware based deinterlacing for mpeg2/h264.

@tmm1 coincidentally informed us a short time ago (< 2 hours) of a merge into ffmpeg that utilises apples Metal API for a yadif filter - https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/commit/...914bfaf9b8
That still requires someone to implement its usage (as well as ffmpeg bumps to dependencies)

Thanks.  Can de-interlacing be turned off?  It is not an ideal solution but some users still love the RPi4 (yes I know it is working in test builds).  A user was complaining that his laptop gets hot to the touch.
