Broken Fox News Video add-on stopped working
#1
I have been using the Fox News Video add-on for years, both on a windows desktop and an android MIBOX. The Fox News Video add-on stopped working last week on both platforms.

Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions please.

Same problem here. Started some weeks ago. I'm on macOS btw, so it seems it's not related to any one particular OS.

I've had the same issue a few years ago. I think I solved it back then by changing a few lines in a python script. Unfortunately I can't find that discussion (and instructions on what to change) anymore.

I'm also a bit surprised on how little information I can find on this. I was under the impression that a lot of people were using the add-on. But maybe there are just not that many users. Or maybe we're the only ones having this issue?

Anyways, I'm sorry I can't help you with this. I'll be doing some more searching this week. If I can find a solution, I'll post it here. Perhaps you can let me know if you've found something.

Cheers, DD

So far it seems to be the two of you. We don't have stats on add-on usage, so numbers are not available.
But coming here and basically only saying "It doesn't work" is not very helpful for any add-on developer.
A debug log (wiki) of the failing Kodi device is the least you can provide as technical info.

You mean like solving a puzzle without all the pieces? It doesn't help all the time.

I can off course send u a huge log if that helps. This part seemed the only relevant part, because this is the part that was last added when I get the error in kodi. I thought this would actually make things easier for anybody that is trying to help.

Anything else you may need that can help?

What would certainly help is that forum visitors/users would actually read and abide to our forum rules (wiki), which also contain our piracy policy (wiki).
Coming here with a Kodi setup that has a crapload of video piracy repos, builds, wizards & add-ons installed does not make you eligible for our support.

Either fully clean up your setup and put in a new debug log, or find your support elsewhere.

Well, if you expect that everybody is going to read the forum rules, I guess you'll be disappointed a lot.

I actually did read the rules and couldn't find anything that I am violating. Rule 6 from the privacy policy states:
These rules apply only to the XBMC.org/Kodi.tv websites. At no point will any user be prevented from using Kodi as they so choose, nor will they be prevented from adding additional add-ons from any source they choose to use.

Most of the piracy crap I have are just some things I tried in the past. I don't even use them, they're all disabled. I just never took the time to actually remove what was already installed. My question is about a legal add-on, and I'm not promoting or talking about anything illegal. So I don't really see the problem here.

But ok. It's not a bad thing to clean up my install somewhat. I'll be back with a cleaner log.

Cheers!

@doubl3D

For clarity, you can install anything you want on your Kodi setup. We are not the internet/htpc police. It's just TeamKodi's prerogative on this forum to support the things we want vs the things we don't want. Supporting video solutions that are deemed borderline (or beyond) illegal is not going to happen here.

Whether add-ons are unused or disabled, we cannot tell from the log file. It's all nothing personal, but more like a 'company decision'. Kodi has had enough bad press and wrongfully accusing publications over the years which has tainted our reputation.
