remote library with local files as opposed to a local library accessing remote files ... if that makes sense

I guess I worded that wrong. Is there a way to view files through Jellyfin the way I would through a local SMB or NFS share? Like just a regular old file view, then I can add content to my library manually?

not that im aware of, i use it as my library then use clients to access that library - no other remote libraries

if thats all you want then jellyfin is overkill for you

think of it as your own self hosted on-demand service like netflix or soundcloud
