Where do I find the      "   allow compression yes   " option in Kodi.  I am using IP Vanish for my VPN and getting this error.  Solution I found along with a few others is to toggle the above option to yes.  I found a half dozen or so all with different paths to get to this, and it is not out there anywhere I have found.  Your assistance is appreciated.  Running latest Kodi with OpenVPN.  that is all I have loaded right now.   btw, both my boxes were running great and this justs happened in last day or so.

Thanks
Al

We don't provide VPN support in this forum.
As for the "allow compression", I don't know. I have never heard of it, so it must an addon specific setting.

Sorry for the delay.  I tried to get back to here and somehow, I screwed up my password and could not remember the email account I used so could not recover my ID which I had since about 2014 or so.  Anyway.  this is an absolutely pristine install of Kodi with OpenVPN loaded.  Running on a Pi 4.  That is all that is loaded on the box.  I have not even loaded the OpenVPN again yet.  What is happening is I install OpenVPN and run wizard just like I have done a hundred times before.  I have tried this with Nord and IP vanish.  For IP vanish is blows up in the wizard just before completion complaining Compression for receiving is enabled.  Compression in the past has been used in the past to break encryptions....   sent packets are not compressed unless "allow-compression yes" is also set  I have googled the allow compression string and there are at least 10 or more suggestions of where to put this and none of them exist. So, not sure where I have to put the allow compression yes statement.  I keep seeing things about DONT ENABLE THIS also.   Its been so long since I did a fresh install, so running around in circles a bot here. For some reason I seem to remember that when I use the Librreelec for usb to generate the install file it had a copy of OpenVPN it loaded that all I had to do was config it for my UID and psw.      For Nord I generate a new token and proceed to the painful task of typing it in.  all is good running the wizard until it checks that EMAIL and PSW and then It blows up.  My pref is to use NORD as I bought a 3 year usage with them.  Any idea of where I can get the file for LibreElec for USB creator I need to do the embedded OpenVPN.?

Thanks
Al

there is no support for vpn setups provided here as indicated by the post before yours

kodi works without vpn = great, job done
kodi does not work with vpn = your problem

I think you have your answer: mostly-pristine or otherwise, this is a VPN-specific issue that has nothing to do with Kodi. As such, we can't offer any support here.
