I don't think USplash supports 720x480, but i'll create ones for 640x480 and 800x600.

For anyone that is running Ubuntu (or one of it's variants like Mythbuntu), you can also get this theme to work without overwriting the default .so theme file.
1) Install Startup Manager - sudo apt-get install startupmanager
2) Copy the built xbmc-splash.so file into the /usr/lib/usplash/ directory
3) Open System -> Startup Manager
4) On the Appearance tab choose the xbmc-splash theme.
5) Make sure the color depth on the Boot Options tab is set to at least 16bit (8bit looked terrible).
Make sure the resolution and color depth chosen on the Boot Options tab is one that your system supports during boot.
For some reason it took a few attempts before the xbmc-splash option stuck. It kept reverting to the mythbuntu one, but once it stuck it seemed to work fine.
