Why is this video playing slow?
#1
I got a file which is normal size that I watch, but this one is much slower with CPU at 100%. The only difference I see is the audio is now AAC, would that account for it?

Slow video:

Video Codec: x264 (2-pass)
Video Bitrate: 1000 kb/s
Video Framerate: 29.970 FPS
Resolution: 626x464
Audio Bitrate: NDAAC-HE-90kbps
Container: MKV

AFAIK Xbox can't handle x264 properly (requires too much cpu power). You could try to play it with DVDPlayer instead (default is Mplayer) via the "Play using" context menu...

It is the AAC as it takes more cpu cycles to decode that. A good way to think of it is "CPU workload increases as compression increases"

Thanks this is what I thought since I have watched h264 videos before.
Thanks.
