I think my problem is due to openGL

Looks like I won't be able to use XBMC because my Gfx card (HD2400pro AGP) is next to impossible to find working drivers for it :confused2:

Ok

I uninstalled 8.10 and searched for Guisettings and deleted those. I reinstalled the with latest SVN build from the sticky and deleted the calibration block (& everyting inside it). Now I'm getting the following in the log :-

I should note that I can only test by Remote Desktop because they stole my LCD TV Sad Only way to use my media center is to remotely connect.

Wait, what? XBMC often does not display or in any other way work through remote desktop. OpenGL and RD don't like each other.

You're right, but let me add this. I got XBMC configured to autostart when Windows boots. So if I turn on my media center, wait a few mins and then connect with remote desktop I see a few error dialogs that XBMC crashed.

I think any attempt at fixing this problem is probably going to have to wait until such time as you have a properly running screen attached. In the past, an immediate crash has often been linked to poor or outdated video drivers. Until you are able to update your actual video drivers and not mistakenly update your remote desktop video driver, it would be foolishness to continue down this avenue.

Just out of curiosity, what is the point of trying to run XBMC without a screen? The only thing the computer could do is act as a music player, and if music playback is your chief goal, a large number of alternatives exist.

SVN 18216
Windows XP SP3
Catalyst 9.3, 2/25/09
Per Catalyst Control Center: OpenGL Version 6.14.10.8543

I can't get XBMC to load at all.

Another Poster with a crash on startup. Only happens since I have installed the latest build.

For me it only crashes as part of auto startup, ie the application is in my startup folder. When I re-start after the crash xbmc works fine.

Any fix for this behavior?

You are 963 builds out of date as of now.

Broads Wrote:Another Poster with a crash on startup. Only happens since I have installed the latest build.

Please post build numbers and continue to test new builds. Reporting "since I have installed the latest build." will probably be ignored since its meanigless.

Also please see the wiki on how to submit a proper bug report.

Beause I am so anxious to see the new Aeon Stark skin Smile I'll try it this weekend at my da's mediacenter pc, or even pickup my old TFT monitor and hook it onto my mediacenter.

Whoops. I had 8.10 Atlantis first, with the same issue. I grabbed an older one to see if anything was different. So I still have the same issue.

Why does it look like I have the Microsoft OpenGL driver in the log even though CCC says I have a current ATI OpenGL driver?

Do you use any tv out or other output device (remote desktop) of you graphic hw?
Sometimes the opengl hw acceleration support is only for the main interface.

My atigloxx.dll was bad. Got a new one and I'm good to go. Jesus that was frustrating.

So I tried one of the latest SVN builds from niko (?), it crashes on my dad's mediacenter as well. I found out that running XBMC without any parameters it does not crash, but then it uses the Program Files dir for data storage which is bad. In Vista and 7 the Program Files dir is protected from writing, you need admin rights. When I run XBMC -p with elevated rights it does work! Note that I run XBMC on a standard account without admin rights. Seems something is wrong here..
