I know exactly how you feel.
Subtitles are really an important part of a media player and it is extremely
frustrating that they do not work properly on the 2 platforms i use XBMC on
(Windows and Mac OS X).
Right now, i have put off watching so many movies because they have subs
and if my GF nags me enough, i just convert the movie to hardcode the subs
so we can watch it.
I am really baffled that this has not been taken care off yet as this should be
IMHO a very high priority bug to fix. It really is a showstopper for film buffs because
we are aware that there are so many hidden gems that are filmed in other
languages than English or French. I guess i need to dust-off my Rosetta Stone
29 language DVD and get cracking!
For the people that don't know what we are talking about, here are the 2
showstoppers with regards to subs :
Issue 1 :
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5551
Issue 2 :
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5193 (Opened since October 17th)
For me, issue two actually crashes XBMC.exe on Windows XP.
