Ubuntu MCE Remote help
#1
Hi guys,

I've search the forum and tried different threads. Got lost and got even more lost amongst my numerous firefox tabs! LOL

Basically I have MS MCE Remote model 1039. I'm used to Redhat way of things so Ubuntu is a little different for me. But never played with lirc so this all new to me.

I setup my Asrock ION system using the following guide:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53812

For the licr+mce rmote stuff I following the following.

I copied this guide first.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=33502

And then this one.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53859

And after either one nothing worked.
Files look like the following

** Sorry for long thread but figured I'd put everything here so no one has to view the above posts. **

/etc/hardware.conf noticed it was in /etc/lirc so put a copy there also.
Code:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
#Chosen Remote Control
REMOTE="Windows Media Center Remotes (old version MicroSoft USB ID)"

# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
#START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
REMOTE_DRIVER=""
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"
REMOTE_MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_mceusb"

# Default configuration files for your hardware if any
REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF="mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb"
LIRCMD_CONF=""
TRANSMITTER="None"
TRANSMITTER_MODULES=""
TRANSMITTER_DRIVER=""
TRANSMITTER_DEVICE=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_CONF=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_ARGS=""
START_LIRCD="true"
START_LIRCMD=""
FORCE_NONINTERACTIVE_RECONFIGURATION="false"
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"

/etc/lircd.conf also in /etc/lirc (the first link said to edit /etc/ filesHuh)
Code:
#This configuration has been automatically generated via
#the Ubuntu LIRC package maintainer scripts.
#
#It includes the default configuration for the remote and/or
#transmitter that you have selected during package installation.
#
#Feel free to add any custom remotes to the configuration
#via additional include directives or below the existing
#Ubuntu include directives from your selected remote and/or
#transmitter.

#Configuration for the Microsoft Windows Media Center V2 (usb) : Direct TV Receiver transmitter:
#include "/usr/share/lirc/transmitters/directtv/general.conf"

#Configuration for the Windows Media Center Remotes (old version MicroSoft USB ID) remote:
include /usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb

/usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb
