Subtitles in mkv files
#1
For some reason, subtitles that are embedded in mkv files won't show up for my.
I am pretty sure they used to show up without any problems, but not anymore. .srt-subs work fine though.

What could be causing this?

Are they ASS subtitles and do you have VPDAU enabled?

Not sure if they are ASS subtitles, but I have VDPAU enabled. Just disabled it, and now the subtitles are there again..
So I assume this is a known problem then. Is there any way to get them to show with VDPAU enabled?

Don't think right now there is a workaround short of disabling VDPAU. I believe it has something to do with the NVIDIA driver and something about not supporting overlays, but that might not be entirely accurate.

The embedded subs in my mkv files work fine with VDPAU enabled. I am using the NVIDIA 190x beta drivers which you can find here: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/openg...er.html#dl.

Ok. That kind of sucks. :/
Well, thanks for the quick answer.

Are you sure about that? I just installed the driver from that page, and it still doesn't work.

I am having the same problem (no subtitles showing in mkv) and running the 190 nvidia driver as well. I have VDPAU force enabled.

Maybe Phantisy has VDPAU on auto and is not actually using it?

Akegata, if you come up with a solution, please post it here. I'll do the same.
