Currently this is done by means of leaving the power cable of the Sata-BluRay drive unconnected.
Everything still runs fine,
and I do start to believe that this was the real root cause of my problem.

I am running Dharma Live on a ASROCK ION 330, and I am having trouble with the menu's freezing after a while (sound continues if I am playing music). If I understand you correctly you had a similar problem and this was solved by disconnecting the DVD drive ? I don't use the DVD drive much, so if this fixes my problem I will go for it!
