I am running svt play on my raspberry pi.
In order to add subtitles I am limited to sources like opensubtitles.org and can not use the subtitles related to the stream in question.
I can however use svtplay-dl to download the subtitle related to the url and activate it during play with audio/search for subtitles at custom location.
I would like this to be automatic.
Question:
Is this the right forum to address my issue?
If so any advise on where to find answers ( I have not found it )
What would be the appropriate place for a function call to a new add-on making this retrieval.
Pardon my ignorance being a newbie.

I don't have much experience with the SVT play addon but subtitles works perfectly fine on SVT play through the retrospect addon http://www.rieter.net/content/xot/troubl...g/install/

Not sure what you are referring to, but subtitles do work in the addon (SVT Play). Just enable them in the Kodi Player GUI. Subtitles->Enable. This is true for all video streams SVT provide subtitles for.
Regarding where to file issues and/or suggestions, the post just before yours states this: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2469974
Example of subtitles working in (Kodi 17):
