hitting the party mode button in the video library doesn't seem to do very much,
other than the 'Filling Glasses' dialog popping up for a second.

bringing up the context menu on a video playlist and selecting
'Play in party mode' has a similar (no) effect...


is it broken, or just me missing the point?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I've just been testing out the buttons on a new skin I'm building and I'm getting the same problem with Party Mode in the video library.

I just get the message -

'Error
Party Mode aborted
No matching songs in the library'

according to the wiki, it'll only work with music videos
and you'll have to create a partymode playlist first:

but, now matter what i try, the party-mode button does not work for me either.

Ah, the skin wiki says different -

16 | button | Start party mode (randomly play videos from your entire video collection)

So should we just remove this button if a playlist has to be built anyway?

Afaik (spiff is the law here), this only is for music videos and partymode.xsp will be generated if all the required conditions are met.
I'd say it's safe to update the skin wiki.

Right I've got myself some music videos and they've been scanned to the library but now all I get is -

Error loading Smart playlist special://masterprofile/PartyMode-Video.xsp (failed to read file)

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to create the PartyMode-Video.xsp file but it still doesn't work.

Anyway to hide the button if PartyMode-Video.xsp doesn't exist?

Works fine on my "recent" Live install (originally from Dharma beta timeframe).
unfortunately not in a position to ssh in atm, but I am pretty sure the xml was auto-generated.
