this can all be done but requires support at skin level to remove menus.
Alaska original makes it fairly easy to hide menus and views can be locked down in settings

yes, a few skins have lock down modes or "Kiosk" modes. These lock out context menus and such. Usually all media types are still accessible though. I guess if you never added any source for music or pictures, this would be obtainable.

skin doesn't have to be involved at all to kiosk.
1) set your startup window to videos
2) unmap previous menu in keymap
3) disable <rootovershoot> from advancedsettings.xml
4) enable master lock and lock sources. that way you have to enter a code to add/remove sources. while not entirely removed, that should suffice.

I meant skin needs to support disabling menu items.
In alaska you can disbable each main and submenu item individually prior to applying a lockdown.
this means you could have only videos or tv or movies and no submenus then lock it so only to access other area would be keyboard shortcuts.

although spiffs post whilst I was typing works with all and is better
