i want to add my roms to XBMC but i am completely lost on how to do this. I know I need the addon but to my knowledge it does not scrape. what is the folder structure for roms? is there a tool to scrape info, like ember media manager does for movies?

Honestly, I gave up on putting games directly into xbmc because it seemed so laborious and the results weren't nearly as good looking as everything else. For me, the solution has been to launch hyperspin from the launcher plugin, and make a custom button on my homescreen. However, that really doesn't solve the problem of acquiring the art. Sadly, there is a lot of tedious work to be done by some poor soul who really needs to find a way to sort and name roms, videos, backgrounds, and boxart associated with them. I don't know of any scrapers that will acquire these things for you automatically though.

Still, the suggestion remains--get some sort of arcade frontend like hyperspin (there are others that are less over-the-top looking), get the launcher plugin, set launcher to launch hyperspin, add the hyperspin launcher to favourites, and then add that favourite to your homescreen that allows you to do it easily.

thanks for the response. sounds like tedious work. I checked out hyperspin and I see what you mean about it being over-the-top. what are the others you mentioned?

RCB is moving in the right direction: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=70115
Not perfect but if you take a few minutes to set it up you'll probably be fine with it.

RCB is easily the best way to organise ROMs that I have used so far. For PC/Linux programs though, not so much.

The big 'but' though is that it is not easy to set up and takes a long time to get your head round the way everything works. However, Malte is continuously working on it and plans to improve the installation, so it might be worth being patient and waiting for the next release.

The latest versions have a setup wizard of sorts if I'm not mistaken.
As for native games that aren't run through emulators your best bet is still a standalone launcher addon.
