XBMC Live on Virtualbox VM
#1
Hi,

I have installed xbmc (xbmc-10.0-live) to a Virtualbox (3.2.12r68302).

The installation went ok but the host system runs with 100% cpu while the xbmc guest is running. The host shows virtualBox.exe using 95% of the processor and the guest reports xbmc.bin using 95% of the cpu and xorg using 5%.

I found this post http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch12.html#id497868 and i checked the CONFIG_HZ value in the guest /boot/config-2.6.32-26-generic file, it is set to 250.

I also found this http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=52742 but i have not investigated the drivers so i dont know if that is relevant.

I would like to hear from anyone who has run XBMC on a virtual machine with good results or anyone who can give me any hints on where to go from here, i would love to see this working!

The host machine is an old IBM notebook with a pentium M cpu @ 2.0Ghz and 2Gb RAM running 32bit windows7, the guest has access to 1Gb RAM and 128Mb video RAM. It does not have the high cpu problem when i run an ubuntu server VM or an OpenSuse VM.
