how to list items missing after library scan ++
#1
1:
After scanning/scraping movies to library, a number of titles is not
present in library caused by various reasons.

is there a way to list those titles, so I can fix all of them (proper naming according to http://www.themoviedb.org, or adding titles not present there).

2:
does my video share(s) need to be write enabled, does xbmc
store info files there? currently I have one big share, which is write protected
for security reasons.

There's a new plugin being worked on that you can try out.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=90258. I tried it and it worked on TV Shows but not Movies but I'm on Linux.

I'm not the best for answering your first question but as far as I know...it depend on usage. If you export all your metadata to individual files then it places files with your videos so it needs write access. If you want to rename, delete, copy, or anything else in XBMC then you need write access. I've always given XBMC full access to my shares.
Mythbuntu doesn't need viruses - we have Sudo
