XBMC 10 and MacMini 2009 - VDADecoder
#1
Hello everyone,

I use a MacMini in 2009 (2.26 GHz / NVIDIA GeForce 9400 - 4GB RAM - 10.6.6) and I have problems with stuttering HD files (mkv or m2ts 1080p).

VDA option enabled or not I still shake.

I read the following topic: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=76813&page=29 and download this version of XBMC: http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/vdadecoder-mac-o...d-package/

Now everything is much better. I still, occasionally, small saccades but nothing comparable.

I do not understand why. Is this a problem for Apple?
Why this version fixes the problem and not the new 10.1 of XBMC?
This change is not official?

Thank you.

Sorry for my bad English ... it is not my native language.

Have you tried 10.1 ?

Thank you.
The 60Hz perhaps a workaround with files in 24Hz.
But this does not work with files in 50Hz.

I am surprised to read that there are more problems with 10.6.6 and VDA ... !

I think there is, from time to time, playback problems with some files and XBMC.

What bothers me most is that I do not encounter any problem with my Syabas Popcorn ...

Maybe we should just stop development on xbmc and all switch to the Syabas Popcorn Smile

Probably not Wink
XBMC offers many more options and is more user friendly Smile

For the time XBMC is not as good as PopCorn. But this is only temporary, of course!

I do not criticize XBMC. I'm not criticizing anyone, and certainly not developers. Thank you all for your excellent work.
I expressed some of the bugs and other anomalies are still present in this type of software.

Returning to the original subject ... version 10.1 does not fix the problem VDA while the old version of xbmcfreak.nl was good.

perhaps a pastebin post of xbmc.log with debug enabled might help diagnose the issue.

At my level, what must I do exactly?
And how?

Bonjour,

I'm back.

Yesterday I did a lot of tests. In fact the problem is more complex.

I try to be specific enough.

When I selected the option: video scaling method = Bilinear
I see far fewer small jerks but they are still present. Especially for large files M2TS. "Small" MKV less.
In debug mode I even had a crash.

I provided all the files here :

Password : xbmc

There is the log and MediaInfo and crahlog.

Let me know if need anything else.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

1: start with a clean XBMC setup and backup the old settings folder. (and don't change any default settings
2: make sure that you have valid h264 files that conform to specs
3: setup TV and XBMC as in post http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=87749
4: when posting logs, use pastbin.com
5: post full errror log AND mediainfo of played file AND TV setup AND XBMC setup
6: don't set xbmc to sleep and turn TV on before the mac

Good luck !
