my initial request was a python script to access and control gb-pvr.
i found on the gbpvr forum that gbpvr is able to talk to a mediamvp so it can be controlled directly.
the interesting thing is that there is a document descriping the protocols how this is done, hence it should be (relatively) easy to write a xbmc interface to gb-pvr instead of the workaround of using python.

i'd love to see any kind of support for a pvr, since the best free pvr i could find is gb-pvr (xlobby is coming up but for the moment :hmm: ) i'd like to see some support for it.

in fact my goal is really to use my xbox to see an epg (electronic program guide... see xmltv and zap2it) to schedule recordings while i'm in my living room directly on my server wich has a tv tuner (just got me a hauppauge pvr-250 :thumbsup: ). since gb-pvr already does most of that, all that is left to do is to make it compatible with xbmc... hifty:
