[AppleTV2]pogoplug help?
#1
I found a new pogoplug the other day for 20 bucks, and decided to buy it since i read that i can share external drives from it to the xbmc.

i set it up, and tried unnp, it kind of works i can browse the dirs of my drives however when i try to play them xbmc hangs, and the appletv then resets. Any tips on how to get a pogoplug to work with xbmc?

im using unteartherd jailbrake 4.3.1 seasonpass

here is a pice of the log i dont see anything that makes it hang

Code:

another thread with no answers. I found that UPNP works fine from Pogoplug to XBMC on Windows. But not Mac or ATV2. What's the difference?

Mac and ATV2 can access other XBMC UPNP shared libraries just fine, they just don't seem to like Pogoplug

Certainly not the best reply, but try using SMB on pogoplug..
It's not the fastest method (compared to NFS or AFP), but it works for me with an ATV2 and a Windows2003 system...

I don't use anything with a higher resolution than 720p (because of the ATV2 and the viewing distance), but that works for me...

Got this setup on the pogoplug and can access from the Mac now. It's pretty sweet, but I'm still not able to get on from ATV2 or Mac versions of XBMC Eden.

I posted this in a SMB share thread.

I thought this might be a good thread to piggyback on. I'm using SMB to share a few different devices. Macbook Pro 10.6.8, Windows Vista, and recently Pogoplug. My windows install of XBMC 10.1 installed March 2011, can see all of my devices via SMB and connect just fine. Mac and IOS (iphone 4 and ATV2) on latest stable Eden versions, can't see any SMB shares, although they used to. When I go to add a share via Zeroconfig, the mac and ios versions see the Macbook (samba), but not the Vista machine or the Pogoplug.

Also when I try to manually add the pogoplug share per the instructions above, either by device name, or by IP address, using the username and password that works on SSH as root, it doesn't let me connect either way.

They can see and connect to the macbook via zeroconfig though. But I'm really trying to get a connection to the Pogoplug.

Any ideas? I've been working on this for a while and will try anything at this point. I'm pretty stumped.

Is this a standard pogoplug?

About a year back I bought a PogoPlug for my Dad and installed custom firmware on it.I connected 2 USB external drives to it and It now acts like a SMB server and connects using a router with my Dad's ATV2 running xbmc. Everything runs smoothly with no buffering. Is this what you are looking to do with it?

If you are interested I will look for the installation guides I used and post them here. It was somewhat complicated to do, so expect some frustration and headaches but after it is done it is totally worth it in the end. Let me know.

Sorry, I guess I missed your last post. Thanks for the response. It's a EO2 version Pogoplug ( http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/...2-pinkgray ) although it's not Pink and Grey, that's the same model as the sticker on mine. I've worked through some tutorials to instal optware or ipkg installer, and I'm sharing from my pogoplug to Windows XBMC clients successfully. I can't share to ATV2 or Mac versions of XBMC however. Both see the Pogoplug via SMB and UPNP, but only windows will connect and stream. I'd love to get it working, but I'm at a loss for figuring out what I'm missing in my setup.

I worked from this guide. http://aaronrandall.com/blog/installing-...-pogoplug/ and when that didn't work quite right, this one. http://diis.net/front/2010/09/05/install...-pogoplug/
