Hi everybody,

Couldnt find anything for this problem:

Some Video Files (ts.) that are played in V 13.2 Gotham aren't played since Version 14.0 (even not up to V15.1).
mpg2-Files are played as well as vob-Files, so in generally Kodi works. This is on Win7 as well as on a QNAP HS 251, so I don't think it is a Problem of Hardware or OS.

What has changed between 13.2. und 14.0 What can I do to play them with a newer Version of Kodi?

I don't have any of these types of files, so I can't check. But according to the format support in the wiki http://kodi.wiki/view/Supported_File_For...at_support, it isn't supported. You may have to remux to MKV or similar.

I play .ts all the time in v14.x through 15.x mainly from pvr recorded live tv. You may want to post a debug log.

the thing is: xbmc 13.2 does play these files, kodi 14 (and newer) does not. I bought a qnap nas especially as a media center, but if I update it to a newer version (and is it recommendet to update) , I won't be able to play my files any longer ... :-(

I will try to post a debug log. is there anything to pay attention to create a log?

No, XBMC 13.2. is the only player, which plays these files. they were exported by a technisat digicorder pvr.

Ok, if they don't play on anything else, but Kodi 13, including standard players and the like, then your only option here is to either re encode to a proper .ts format, or another container,

The easiest, user freindly program to do this with is handbrake.

As a quick cheat, have you tried changing the file extension to .mp2 or .mp4 to see if that's enough to nudge KODI into working?


I used to get lots of .ts files from a digital TV recorder and my preferred editor \ converter was VideoRedo. Still like it as it is quick and simple. Lol, and I agree with you. The main reason why I point people that way, because out of the 1trillion options, and most of them spam, Trojan, or otherwise filled with crap... Handbrake isn't. So for first timers, Atleast I know they can figure it out, and not hate me for the bs overload.

Thx for your advices, but I don't like to have much trouble like converting for just viewing films. So if there is no option to view them with a newer version of kodi: maybe I can install the old xbmc 13.2 on my NAS, but: where can I get the qpkg for my QNAP HS-251 (Linux)? Any idea?
