Even on menus with all items of the same view type and no addons, the lag is very visible.
I gave up. I changed NOTHING major on this part in the last 30 days. For me it's smooth on my main gaming rig, on my laptop, on my office PC, on my HTPC and it also runs okay on my Pi2 with Openelec.
Uninstall your Kodi, clean your thumbnails/cache and try a fresh install. If this won't help, upgrade to an HTPC
I have fresh installed, deleted thumbnails, textures13.db, reloaded thumbnails, reduced widget number....
I give up too.
