Hey Kricker,
I use the NEWA web guide to do my scheduling. It can be accessed through http://IP_ADDRESS_OF_SERVER:8866

Hopefully there will be scheduling features added soon to XBMC, then the add-on developers can add it into their code.

Okay, So I'm not overlooking something that is already there.

wileecoyote,

would you know any reason why my NEWA tv guide is completely blank?

Just tried it and WOW at the channel switching speed (1-2 s), coming from mediaportal this is a big improvement (5-8 s). I guessing that its because NPVR client read directly from the "live" stream, while MP (at moment, as rtsp is faulty) client reads from the timeshift file. And no additional DB server needs installing + good support for plugins on decoder cards Smile

Only thing is that I also get that randomly (50/50 chance of occurring) buffering when changing channel (it freezes or loses connection, says buffering for 30s, and channel starts also after "losing" connection), but I guess this is pretty good first version Smile

One question: I noticed that npvr backend creates new buffer files foreach channel when switching, does that mean when timeshifting is supported, it only applies on the viewing channel? (no bigge, but just curious).

This is shaping up to be my new setup.

Great work!

What do you mean? When you're watching live tv in NextPVR (whether in NextPVR or a client), it creates a timeshift buffer file for that session. XBMC doesn't support timeshifting at this stage, so the buffer's not used by xbmc at this stage, but its there because thats the way NextPVR does it's live tv sessions.

You can have more than one client using the same tuner. For example, if you have multiple digital channels on one frequency, you could have multiple clients watching them all at the same time and it'd only be using the single tuner. (They'd each have their own timeshift buffer file)

I'm not sure if that answers your question or not?

I think what he's asking is if he's watching live tv, and change channel, he is not able to rewind back to the old channel, since ts buffer is deleted and recreated at channel change.

I also have this problem, it's a problem that also had with MP and 4TR plugin in beginning. I think the best thing we can do is to turn on debug and try to log it, and provide sub with log files over at their forum, maybe he can pinpoint the issue.

I update XBMC to the 10-02-2012 nightly and now it does not find the NPVR backend.

I have posted a Windows patch build that includes opdenkamp's new libraries. Try that version and let me know if it doesn't work.

Thanks, I will take the build down until Sub can investigate further.

Guys... Delete your addon.db, tv.dv and epg.db files from your database directory and try again.

I'll try loggio's suggestion. In the meantime I see activity in sub's github for this addon.

EDIT:
Deleting those files did nothing. I still can not connect using the current add-on.

Dont get too excited. Also, don't be surprised if I break things. Big Grin I'm an absolute newbie with git, and I'm trying to pull in the most recent changes from the upstream opdenkamp repository, as part of a cleanup prior to requesting Lars merges my addon into his repository.

I just built it, and it is loading the channels now Wink So whatever you did was a step in the right direction!

EDIT:
Yup, seems to be back in working order. I'm watching a HD channel in XBMC right now.

On a side note, I have some HD channels that do not play smoothly. I'm not sure if this is an XBMC thing or NPVR or a combination of the 2.
