Yes I know! One single stream will not work since the name changes (the name of the live tv/internet tv source) and the link created from the plugin will eventually not work since the name changes.

i.e. In ESPN case it shows as "ESPN1 - Sportscenter". But when another show is on then the link created will no longer be valid because it will change to "ESPN1 - Show Name" for example. I hope I'm explaining right. Sorry. LOL. I have this issue with live tv channels in PlayOn because of this. There are only some channels that don't do this.

ahh, IC thanks for the info...
Yay. I explained it better. LOL. Yes. This will create problems for LiveTV/InternetTV from PlayOn. It would be ideal but PlayOn doesn't name them the same all the time. As I mentioned only a few channels would work in PTVL where they don't scrape metadata on what's now. I'll let it be know to PlayOn staff and see what they tell me but like I said, the only solution for now would be to create our own channels where the names stay the same.

Also I do see the problems the user is having with those channel types not working. I'm unable to get them to work right now as well. I've tried both channel types and as mentioned, it either crashes, or channel will just go up one as expected. I'll post log for you to have a look see in the bugs thread. The link does work directly in the PlayOn Plugin but not when loaded in PTVL. You can always message me if you need further testing.

Yes this is exactly the issue I am having, I have tested on channels that when you just select Watch Live from the source it does fine but like he said ESPN1- SHOW TITLE includes the channel and show playing but it doesnt update as frequently as I would like and when it does the link name changes.

Ideally I would like to be able to have an ESPN channel that when I select it from the guide to plays whatever is streaming live via PlayON, if possible I would like to make an ESPN2 and ESPN News channel as well showing just the stream from that channel. Then if possible I can pull the XMLTV info for that channel in the EPG. I would really like to set it up for all the live channels that PlayOn offers and then I will have seperate channelse for the other on demmand channels playing older content.

Thank you very much for explaining this better than I could and thank you Luna for taking the time to help troubleshoot.
Is it me or is the random selection of tv series episodes not so random I have 15 seasons of The Simpsons episodes and I see sometimes the same episodes in EPG. Can I do something about this?

Huh, kind of makes me glad I held off on getting PlayOn now, especially since I'd have to dedicate a machine to Windows which I no longer use locally, only at my Dad's house and then rarely. Thought maybe one of those ministick PCs might be the way to go for PlayOn, just plug in somewhere and stream from it to my actual TV computer running Ubuntu-Mate...

Wish they'd get on board with people running Linux; it isn't the 90s any more.
Trying to message Lunatixz but when it links it tells me I don't have the ok to sent a direct message.
I just wanted to inform him on a donation I made for Pseudotv. My kodi username is gkithes. Thank you

You won't be able to PM until you make a certain number of posts in the forum first. It's spam protection.
Yeah it's called spam protection. It forces you to spam the boards until you get your post count up, and then you can pm people lol

Hey Luna, have you had time to think about a solution to my ESPN and other PlayOn channels issue ?

How does Super Favorites work with PTVL ?
meaning when the EPG is loaded will it pull in the items favorited each time or does it remember the link and save it. So it wont work when the feed name changes.

I currently just have ESPN on my favorites and when I select it then it takes me to the PlayOn directroy with all the LiveTV Channels.
Lunatixz, Are you still accepting donation for the "Exclusive Content"? Thanks

Post a log for Luna in the dedicated thread and after we get LiveTV/InternetTV channels working in PTVL then I can perhaps come up with a workaround by creating our own playon channel for just this reason. A Log will be helpful so that Luna can see why those channel types aren't working with the PlayOn plugin. I'll post one as well as soon as I get a chance.

This isn't an issue on my end... If playon changes its reference links or name then PTVL could miss it.

Only way around this is to use chtype 15 point it to the nearest static folder, and exclude everything you don't want. Then set a rule to reset channel every x hours forcing PTVL to look for changes.
