Thanks

unfortunatly you are limited by your receiver now. you can connect your nuc directly to your tv and then use a spdif cable from the tv to receiver to get the sound. This will however limit you to Dolby digital or dts. no hd audio or atmos support via spdif.
dunno if its possible to use both digital outputs at the same time on the NUC? if so then you maybe will be able to get both sound and picture (sound via arc) to work. this will make the HD audio work but still no atmos/dtsX and no HDCP 2.2 etc.
In the end I opened the wallet and bought me a new receiver to get everything up to date...for now...Confused

If you own NUC7i3 then I assume that the HDMI port is 2.0, your need an AVR with HDPC 2.2 and HDMI 2.0 port, you can also plug is directly into the TV and use ARC but you will lose HD Audio.
As for as playing 4K, you wouldn't have a problem playing them back but HDR doesn't work on Kodi yet still development stage.

Thanks for your replies.

At the Moment the AVR is connected via HDMI and the TV via USB-C-HDMI. I can set 4k resolution in Kodi as well as 60 FPS. Passthrough is working, too. However, I have some image interferences every each and while. I saw this when I changed the HDMI ports at the NUC, too. It seems to me that video and audio are always a little bit out of sync.

3D hardware accelaration is not working in this setup, too. But I learned that this is a known issue for HDMI 2.0. When I pass the video through my AVR it works most of the time.

My TV has an option called Ultra Deep HD Color. If I enable it I see a strange behavior. The TV resolution is set to 4k all the time and the TV does only receive image data when another monitor (behind my AVR is on), i.e. the TV is on standby as soon as I have no other non Ultra Deep HD Color device connected.

The next strange thing is that the Ultra HD Blueray Advisor by Cyberlink tells me that I dont have SGX (it is enabled in Bios and Intel SGX AESM is started), that I don't have Intel ME software (which is installed, too) and that my display is not HDCP 2.2. :-(

And what does Advisor say about GFX? Minimum requirement for UHD Blu-ray playback is HD630, NUC7i3 has HD620...
I want to buy this little machine but now I'm scared Sad

You guys viewing good 3D on your NUC? I thought the Beebox was pretty much the same product but with PowerDVD 17, either the 1.4 or the 2.0 HDMI port, 3D was not watchable. During movement, the images were all layered wrong (hard to describe.)

I know we're you're talking about, talk about eye strain trying to watch 3D on the Beebox. I have a NUC as well but have not tried it as MVC is not working on any HDMI 2.0 INTEL GFX setup

Not on any HDMI 2.0 Intel GFX setup. Older NUCs with HDMI 1.4, it works just fine.

Could you possibly test the advisor and tell me what it tells about your system, please? I would know whether I need to digg deeper, then.

Connect to HDMI 2.0
Change the resolution to 3840X2160 then HDCP will PASS

Thanks for your results and the tip regarding the resolution. I got the same result using 3840x2160 but for HDR. I will try another cable later today and maybe downgrade the gfx-driver to 4664. I saw that you own a LG UHD-TV , too. Did you enable the HDMI Ultra HD deep color option?
