How large is your XBMC Library?

Using Refocus BIG here, and I have the RSS Ticker turned off. This data appears in that area. When Videos is highlighted it shows total number of movies and TV Episodes. When highlighted over Movies or TV Shows it shows how many total of that section and how many unwatched.

Don't remember mine right now. All I know is that I finally fixed my WISP and been using 80Gigs/month. Retard tech that came out and "set it up" had put my wireless router on the same channel as the WISP antenna. So every time I got on the internet and my router kicked out a signal it knocked the internet out... Hate it when country folk try to mess with tech stuff. Just go shoot a deer or something.

yes they have, multiple times actually

Out of interest, the people that have 10TB and higher storage - what do you use to store them?

Custom Built Home Server around 19-21TB i think haven't really counted

the stats will be on the main menu above each section so highlight TV Shows it will tell you Number of Shows and Number Of Episodes, etc....

there is quite a few skins that have this feature some it is an extra you have to set in the skin settings

I am using CCM (Confluence Customizable Mod) by Mudislander i had to install his repo to get that but it displays them well others include Aeon Nox, Metropolis

Today's my first post here, I've been lurking for about a year now. I have a little over 500 movies at 1080p each all ripped to mkv with high bit audio and about 24 different TV shows with almost complete seasons for each. I have it all residing on a Drobo 5N with 21TB of storage and just recently bought a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 HTPC. I've been using the Aeon Nox 4.1.9 skin but I'm going to try the Bello skin for the first time this evening.

I've seen that some of you have gotten notices by your ISP's for downloading bittorents. I've been using bittorrents for years now, never have used usenets. I find them to be too slow. When I first started with bittorrents I got a few notices too from my ISP, mainly for software but I did get one for downloading a movie torrent too. I was using PeerBlock for a long time and got another notice and was like that blows, so for about eight months now I've been subscribing to an anonymous bittorrent service called BTGuard for only $6.95 a month and have yet to get another notice. It's very fast too and I download a lot of bittorrents so it's all good.

Not sure if spam, but such BitTorrent services are almost entirely ineffective.

I have been collecting media and supplies for over 20 years. Just waiting for the zombie apocalypse to start and then I will huddle down in my theater and wait it out with my snacks and media. Tongue

HI,

5797 Movies
1356 TV Shows (circa 14,000 Episodes)
2006 Songs

I fall between different camps on the topics discussed here. I used to 'collect' DVD's & had about 5,000 original & DVDR's recorded from my TiVo. These eventually took up most of a room in the house so I was 'encouraged' by SWMBO to do something about it around 2006. Initially I bought a number of large DVD flight cases but it was a complete pain to go & dig films out so I started to digitise & sell my DVD's on ebay. I eventually ended up on XBMC around 2010 after using various home theatre s/ware packages. I have digitised all the originals & still have a couple of thousand DVDR's that I would like to convert but time & HDD space prohibit at the moment. I also use torrents quite extensively.

As to the collection debate, I would like to think that my Library is compiled selectively but I must be honest & admit that part of it is collecting for collectings sake (hoarding). I try to introduce quality only but quite a lot of crap filters through & I never delete anything.

My media is collected on 22 HDD's, internal & external & HDD failure is a big issue. Ultimately I would have a RAID server but financial constraints warrant against introducing one now as my library has grown organically over the years. One day........

Why do you say that? I get about 2/3 of my digital media through BitTorrent and they are great quality. The other 1/3 I rip and burn from my own Blu-ray collection, most of which are steelbook collectible editions.

If your referring to BTGuard, why would it be ineffective? It's an anonymous proxy service. Proxy services have been around for ages and are actually very effective. BTGuard just specializes in masking your BitTorrent from Peer 2 Peer Cops.

Torrents/Ripping/OTA rips now.
I mainly OTA rip and DDL at the moment although I'll torrent/usenet a ton when I get my own personal internet again.
I want to OTA rip more and more though. Second I learn to overclock my 4770K and I get my VideoRedo I'll do more OTA rips and those will go faster.

I hoard though. I find it's useful. Right now, my cousin is watching Word Girl that I recorded for him. I like to have content for everyone. My Ceton InfiniTV 4 is quite useful for that. I apparently need a Linux machine though or something so I can use another backend since WMC decides it wont send to HTPCs (I didn't even consider it would strip out such an obvious feature).

BTGuard is a VPN. I think that's "effective" although I'm not positive. I apparently got a letter using PIA but I'm not positive if it was actually a letter or a "high internet usage". IMO, if you pay for unlimited internet, there is NO REASON your ISP should be sending you a high internet usage. lol what? The average person on the internet downloads like 2GB of content a month. If I want to download a terrabyte a month let me. I'm in the .00001% of your customers. If it's a widespread problem sure, but just making that message for the 10,000 users you have that have ever gotten close to that was more of a waste of money. Maybe if it was becoming a more widespread problem but man so silly.

I would visit you just to make a copy of those HDDs and save myself the trouble of finding that content...
That's like my dream size collection haha.

You don't use Unraid to protect your stuff? At 22 HDs I'd definitely have set up at least an UNRaid setup.

Films: 694 (3 SD, 691 HD)
TV Shows: 165 (Around half SD)
TV Episodes: 9,344
Music: 5,301 (MP3/FLAC)

Video I have mostly ripped from collection using H.264/CRF18 and retaining the original audio, unless the content is standard definition in which case I still use x264/CRF18 but use AAC @ 144kbps for the audio. HDD space is stated in signature, although I've added another 3TB drive since I last update it.
Please read the online manual (wiki) & FAQ (wiki) before posting.

Bumping this thread for nostaglia purposes and to see what people are doing now!

This was a long time ago for me, 5 years later and I have a 66TB of storage space with UNRAID setup to protect against 2 HDD failures (An additional 2 8 TB drives)
I also have 4-6 8TB drives in the closet (I thought my server HDDs died, they didn't.... I just kicked the PC and knocked cables loose.  Don't bump your PC while cleaning!)
It now sits in a server chassis, and soon to be moved to my custom built server rack.

My setup has advanced quite a bit although it's now simpler to manage than ever before. Mostly it's automated now or I use an interface to interact with everything.  Unraid has made it painfully simple.
I never posted my stats for some odd reason, I wish I had so I could compare, but now I'm at
~30.5k TV Show Episodes
~450 Series
~1700 Movies

---
The next step now is saving up for a Norco 4224 Case and using that with a dual xeon build for a "gaming/storage" server.  The case is actually the most expensive part, since after doing a bunch of research the CPUs/mobo/ram are DIRT cheap.  It's really unfair to anyone trying to compete with Intel as so many companies dumb their old server parts, you can pick up a 2 x 10 core, 32 GB RAM, mobo for ~$500 easy.  That's a pretty luxury upgrade for me since I don't game or necessarily need 20 cores worth of power (More like 8) but I mean... for $80 extra... I'll take 10-12 extra cores.
If I had never found Kodi, I wouldn't have this silly compulsion to keep going bigger and bigger.  I feel like there is almost a light at the end of the tunnel though!

I now have about 806 movies, mostly Blu-rays. All purchased. Sadly, I'd surmise that most libraries nowadays are largely filled will illegally downloaded content.

I finally crossed 10 000 hrs of TV content though this number is a bit skewed.  Some eps are doubles, like uncut Japanese vs cut Dubbed versions.  Also any 'two parts in one ep' things get their run time counted twice.
