Hi!

thanks for bringing back the aerial screensaver to Kodi. I've noticed one small issue:

Is it possible, that one video from hong kong is missing? In Mac Version there are 5 Videos of Hong Kong but here are only 4. Here is a screenshot:

Your right when o added the underwater videos I must have missed this one. I got a few things going on this week but when I get a chance to I will added it back. Could you compare the rest of the videos with the Mac in case I missed another? 

I just want to remind you of this one because I thinks it's causing problems. Sometimes the screensaver stops and the picture gets black. I thinks thats the moment, when the missing video should be played (its Hong Kong: 64EA30BD-C4B5-4CDD-86D7-DFE47E9CB9AA).
But I compared it with the ID list you posted and there the video is present

Yeah I tried to make sure I added back. As far the screensaver stopping and playback issues i will keep them in mind but they should be different this time around as it will be a new completely new addon as far as the code i started from scratch. In hope of improving and cleaning up everything.

Could you please make an option to set separate timeout in the addon, after which video stops and system shutdown timer countdown starts?
You can see Aerial implementation details for that.
I personally don't need DPMS since my platform doesn't support it (it shutdowns the display along with system suspend). So just video stop on timeout would be fine, maybe screen dimming doesn't hurt also (the dimming probably would be provided by Kodi automatically).

So you first will enable power saving mode the to can set the time. There is a slider from 5 to 120. What well happen when the time is up the script will try to turn you display of with dpsm of it fails it will they try cec over HDMI. If that fail the screen will just go black add remain black until you press a button or move the mouse. At that time there will be verbage on the screen telling you to press back to return.

So are u requesting a shutdown action?

Actually, I like Aerial's behavior - it has it's own timer (I set it to max, 120 min), on the timeout it stops video and tries DPMS methods to put display off. If the methods fail, the screen keeps ON (but it dimmed by Kodi with time), which is OK since from that point Kodi system shutdown timer starts countdown (I set it to 5 min, after that display switches off with Suspend action).

So you could just simulate that behavior, even without DPMS (which doesn't work for me anyway) it would be fine. IMO no any verbiage on the screen needed.

Well if DPMS fails for you and CEC standby fails for you the fallback I have is a blank black screen. The verbage doesn't show until you wake it up, in a way of speaking. I have a oled tv so I don't want dim as I fear burn in. And the words will not appear until it movement. I honestly am not sure what your asking so why not let me finish the new version and give it a try then if you want shutdown option I can add it. From what I am reading it already does what you want but instead of a dim screen it goes black and you don't get the standby shutdown option since the screen it black.

Ok, on a second look think maybe I won't need any additional options, will see.
Right now I can't make the script work - the screen just go blank and no video.

These are KODI settings btw.

Since my platform doesn't support DPMS, I have no such Kodi option.
The only "Sleep/Shutdown" options I have in that menu is "Shutdown function timer" and "Shutdown function" (Suspend/Shutdown), which probably won't work while screensaver is active, essentially meaning the video will play forever until I stop it manually.
That is why I asked additional timer in addon for video stop, so that above options could start working (Suspend on Kodi system timeout).

That's cool and the way I have my dpsm stuff wrote it should do exactly all you have to do is toggle power saving mode on and set a time you want it to kick in. I automatically figure out the best way to kill your display if possible. Like I said just wait til I actually release the new version. We are going back in forth over something that is already working. Once it get Verison 2 released and you actually try it then we can discuss it more until then this discussion is pointless because it is already coded in and working. With less setting more magic.

Would like to request a couple of features if you don't mind:


In settings in the Download New Video dialog, would be great if there was an option to turn off auto-downloading entirely (I downloaded them all and deleted what I didn't want, so I would prefer if they didn't download again at some point in the future).

Would be great to have the option to hide the text that displays over the videos, and only show it when pushing the remote button.

That seems reasonable and very much do able. I will try to keep it in mind. I hope to be able to work on the new revision a little more this week.
