I tried v19 nightly, but it made no difference. The FireTV always downmixes to 2.0.

The only solution Is to set audio FireTv in PCM mode.

How is that a solution? It still downmixes to 2.0 (output as 5.1, but the other channels are unused).

I still get 5.1/7.1 output correctly using this test file.

This is due to an update of the FireStick from Amazon. I was able to fix this by doing the following, unfortunately you cannot keep your existing build.
Uninstall Kodi. Then download this version of Kodi apk,  kodi-20201031-3dfcc21e-aftv4k-armeabi-v7a.apk from the site http://ftp.igh.cnrs.fr/pub/xbmc/xbmc/tes...droid/arm/
This is a special build of Kodi 18.9 for FireStick.
After installing, go to System->Audio (in Expert Mode) and change the settings as below:
Audio Passthrough: Enable
Passthrough Output Device: AudioTrack(RAW) .... This is the important bit.
Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver: Enable
Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) Transcoding: Enable
Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) capable receiver: Enable
Leave all the rest of Audio settings to DEFAULT

That's it. Now you will get DD+ in yout AV receiver and also ATMOS from Netflix if you have Premium subscription.

What AVR are you using? Maybe the problem is AVR specific. I have a Marantz (same as Denon). Unfortunately I don't have any other AVRs to test with.

It's an old one, Pioneer SC-LX77.

Are you saying that AAC and DTS will be transcoded to DD+ with this solution?
I get everything transcoded to DD+ with Kodi 18.9 standard build.
I can't confirm Atmos as my receiver is not Atmos-capable.

Anyone had issues talking to a SMB 1 share? I've got a HDD plugged into the router and shared via SMB 1 (I don't think stock Asus firmware goes higher than that). Performance is awful, pretty much unwatchable. However, the HDD is also accessible via uPnP and it plays fine through this. VLC also has the same behaviour.

I have a Denon, and PCM multichannel works perfectly with MrMc.

How do I debug the Fire Stick 4K spontaneously rebooting while just sitting in Kodi Matrix Beta 2's settings menu, movies view, etc? It did that in Beta 1, so I uninstalled it completely, went back to Leia, which was fine for a couple days, and then updated to Beta 2, and it did the same thing within the first hour. I checked the log file, and it doesn't capture anything relating to this. It's truncated, as Kodi was caught unawares. My stick is on Amazon OS 6.2.7.7, a new update.

I am also having the passthrough issues on my 4K stick with an outdated 18.3 build. Does anyone have an estimation of whether amazon will update the stick again to fix these issues or is it likely to be the case indefinitely now? Thanks

I'm a new member here with the firestick. Am having the same issue, but went to 19 Beta 2 and it is now tolerable. Followed DipSur's settings, but had to change the output channels to 2.0 and allow passthrough. I think it is transcoded to DD, but at least I have surround now. When I have channels set to 5.1, it only passes as 2.0 sound. I'm sure there is a reason, but haven't gotten through all 91 pages of this thread. Haven't tried on my other system yet, but it is promising.

On my system with firestick directly in onkyo 676 receiver, I do not get dts pass through. It seems to be transcoded to dd 5.1 and that is acceptable till I get a different box.
Using matrix 19.0 beta 2
System/audio settings
Raw device
2.0 channels
Pass through raw device
Everything enabled.

Tried iec device, but no output in any settings.
