a tad dramatic...  Tongue it's a very minor issue, the settings page where you enter URLs is missing.

Kind of a big issue when you can’t get any guide info as an end user? Most people’s XMLTV files only last 2-3 days, whereas a URL lasts infinitely long as the service.

Mostly it’s annoying that the XMLTV “file” you enter (whether file or URL) doesn’t work and never actually imports any of that guide info into “PseudoTVlive.m3u” so you’re left with nothing but blank guides except for the user defined channels.

I've been spending the past day or two getting it all set up and looking through the forum post for solutions to some issues I'm having, and found answers to most everything but a few things.
  1. I can't create any channel rules for custom channels for some reason. I click "Add New Rule" and suddenly I can't select anything and have to hit backspace to get out of it.
  2. When I change channels, it freezes the video I'm on for a split second, then the next channel's video is also frozen for a split second. There's a solid second of silence/paused video. Any way to improve this?
  3. Is there any way to have a simple EPG view? Like a half-screen EPG with video still playing in the background? Something where I can change channels while in the EPG without leaving the EPG. No need for all these channel groups, just a basic basic EPG? This probably has more to do with Kodi's PVR feature but I figured I'd ask here since this would be the right crowd.
Just tried to post my log, but apparently it exceeds the maximum length of Kodi's Pastebin, so let me know what the best way to post that.

1. Advanced Channel rules is a pending feature in the next round of beta testing...
2. Channel changing speed is relative to the system and I/O Kodi/Server is running on.
3. This is a skinning issue, you'll have to find a Kodi Matrix skin that features an EPG like the one you are looking for; or you can create your own.
Thanks for the response!

1. Must have missed that one, my bad. I guess I was so used to it I didn't realize it was still in Beta in this version. Thanks!
2. So my system is way overpowered for an HTPC as it triples as both a gaming PC and a lite-medium editing rig, plus the older version on v18.9 worked fine. I'll have to check my settings again.
3. Completely fair, Eminence was my skin of choice on v18.9 and it's not available for this version, so I guess I was used to it.

Also wanted to say thank you for all of this as well. Great work. Let me know if you have a donation link and I'll buy you a few beers!

You weren't forced to use a beta plugin and I'm pretty sure importing files worked 100% however, there was no way to enter a url rendering that option useless.

Not sure I follow the file vs. url logic they are one in the same, just a different delivery method. URL hosted meta is just as finite as files. it's all relative to how often they are updated/download what have you.

Perhaps your setup is not qualified to handle beta testing this project; due to the sensitivity addressed.

Maybe wait for a final release?

1. No prob. The OP has a link to the main project thread which contains a lot of info.

2. Let's limit comparing the two projects since they are 100% completely different and there are MANY factors that come into play concerning performance. Rest assured that I've heavily optimized the code to limit slowdowns. In other words it's doubtful anything beyond revisiting your setup anything can be done about it. For me it's lighting quick... Be sure to limit background task's for example library scanning will slow down your performance regardless of your specs.

3.Matrix is still new I'm sure more options will become available.

4. Thanks, I have a buymecoffee link in my readme on GitHub and a link to make a donation to Kodi of you'd like to do both.

Thanks for the log, I see an issue and I'll push a fix with the next update.

::Update::
@LARQ I cleaned up the strm parsing code; however, it's still important that you double-check your strm's either have been scrapped into Kodis Library or have a matching .nfo file that contains duration data.
ex. FOOBAR.strm needs a matching *.nfo FOOBAR.nfo

Am I missing something or does PseudoTV Live no longer "change channels" by pressing up or down on the remote like the older non-live branch did? It's a feature I really like and found that pressing up or down just advanced the currently-playing video some seconds ahead.

This project is 100% unrelated to it's older namesake, code is not similar, functions completely differently... So it's best you don't try to draw comparisons.

With that said...

Yes, channel surfing is available currently only when in PVR callback mode and only if you've configured Kodi's backend to do so.... I recommend you read the documents in the OP. THX
