CBC Sports "Stream Not Available" Error
I knew the ISU speed skating wouldn't work (event not started yet).  I just wanted to make sure it was giving back the correct error and acting as it should.

Edit:  Event (ISU speed skating) has started and is working in Live Schedule
USports Women's Rugby St FX vs Guelph is working

For some reason the ISU Speed Skating is now getting audio only no video, I have stopped and restarted several times.  Not sure why I get that occasionally, it is ok at the website.  Now getting video again.

Thanks.  So far it seems to be working as expected.  I am looking at a couple of other enhancements:

User adjustable notification timers.  Right now when you get a notification message like "Stream Not started" and such the length of time it is displayed is hard coded to 5 seconds.  I am thinking of making it a setting where you can select 1-6 seconds or similar.  It wouldn't be for each notification but would apply to all.
Detecting blackouts by comparing the event start time to the current time and assuming if the stream isn't available that it is due to being blacked out. I knew the ISU speed skating wouldn't work (event not started yet).  I just wanted to make sure it was giving back the correct error and acting as it should.

The video missing issue is a source issue at Akamai and not something addon related.  I did just post a new version 1.0.0d .  It should be the last update for a while but since we have all of these events I was able to do a lot more testing, including proper detection for blackout events.

Version 1.0.0d has two new features:
  • Added detection for geographic blackout of streams
  • Added setting to adjust notification timeout for live events

If this test version tests good over the next couple of days I'll post  it as the official 1.0.1 release next week.

Looks like the test is doing what it should, here's what I did.
1.  Installed v1.0.0d (test) and changed logging setting to Detailed, restarted Kodi
2.  Tested USports Women's Rugby Victoria vs Ottawa - Worked
3.  Tested USports Women's Field Hockey Victoria vs Toronto - Worked
4.  Tested Dream Gap Women's Hockey Team Harvey's vs Team Sonnet - Worked

Ok.  That was me that caused this.  I assumed that if the URL returned was /sports that it was invalid vs. almost every other event comes back with a URL like /1.6239904 or similar.  I've uploaded 1.0.0e and removed the /sports checking and this event is now working.

***  Edited ***

I clicked on the wrong event when testing above.  The CBC website is returning /sports for the "OUA Women's Soccer Queen's vs Western" event which can't be parsed for the mediaId.  I've reuploaded 1.0.0d as the latest test version.

Ok, because when I tested 1.0.0e if brought up the No mediaId error.  Will download 1.0.0d

Edit: I'm not sure if you had said earlier that events like these would not be shown but I would prefer they did even if they don't play.  At least then we could know to check the website to look for the event and see if it is at the website.

I had thought about not displaying them when the URL was invalid but decided to leave them.  I agree with your logic about displaying them.  I am starting to look at Hockey Night for tomorrow evening.  I don't see anything which looks like a mediaId yet on the CBC webpages which are being returned to me.   If you end up finding any 13 digit numbers like before which look like mediaIds and we can get a detailed set of logs I might be able to find something to parse.

I've been spending some time parsing the Hockey Night pages and may have found a way to parse them for the mediaId (at least the Hockey Night events which have games).  I've created a separate test branch for Hockey Night and have uploaded v1.0.0e here .   This version has what I think is the mediaId hard coded for tonight's  Toronto at Buffalo game at 7PM EST.

What I need you to do, if you can, is to install this version just after tonight's game starts, enabled detailed logging and then click on any Live Event.  it should try to bring up the Buffalo at Toronto game.  Let me know what happens and post the logs.  You can then reinstall test version 1.0.0d.

Thanks,

The OUA Men's Soccer Championship: York vs. Guelph event is returning /sports from the CBC website.  No way to parse that for the mediaId.

Thanks for testing Hockey Night later.  I'll do the same here and see if I get the blackout, stream not available or some other error.

On a slightly different topic can you confirm that for the 3 video on demand categories Highlights, Most recent and Archive that you aren't having any problems playing the videos ?  I have copied the Live Event blackout detection over to them and I now get the proper blackout message for some of the videos.  This will be included in the next code I post.

Thanks,

Jeff

All three are working fine, archive is great to have when you have missed a Live Event.

Tested two more events for today: CHL Hockey (Miss vs Kingston) and Women's Field Hockey Game 2 (Vict vs Tor) both are working

Here's what I did:
1.  I tested on v1.0.0d (test) and got "No mediaId" error on HNIC Tor @ Buf at Live Schedule
2.  Installed v1.0.0e (test) and changed setting to Detailed
3.  Restarted Kodi and got "No mediaId" error on HNIC Tor @ Buf at Live Schedule

Thanks.  I suspected it might not work.  If you want to go to directly to the CBC webpages for the events:

HNIC Tor @ Buf

HNIC Van @ Vegas

and see if you can play them and if so maybe you can find something which looks like the mediaId like you did before.  Without knowing what to look for on the CBC page raw data I don't know what to parse for.  I do have a method for parsing out the individual Hockey Night events from the page which the CBC website provides in the URL.  So I am half way there.

I don't know if this will be helpful but here is the log file for the CBC TV addon and how I was able to play the event (HNIC Tor @ Buf) through that addon.  Maybe that will show the difference

I am able to play from the website ok.  If I am able to find anything I'll post it.  Thanks for the perseverance above and beyond the call.

Thanks for all of your help.  Those logs help a little but I don't see anything close to a mediaId in the logs.  I'll spend some more time and see if I can find anything.

I did upload version 1.0.0f which has a couple of enhancements:

  • Added blackout detection for the video on demand categories
  • Added settings option to not display Hockey Night in Canada Live Events which currently do not work.

The second option allows turning off displaying Hockey Night in Canada in the Live Events.  The default is disabled which will not display them.  I did a little more code cleanup too.

Thanks,

Jeff
