Release Aeon MQ 9 - Matrix, Nexus and Omega
The folks here that have been helping have been amazing! So thank you. I continue to learn more and enjoy all the new customizing I'm finding. My most recent was with regard to the splash screen and start up. My 1st question is this: Is .PNG still the only viable option for art. I was curious if something like an mp4 would work. Oddly enough, I have tried mp4, jpeg and png and none of them worked on the splashscreen at all. Is the file I want to use supposed to go in the media folder. Maybe I'm missing a step too.
If not, I see there is a startup option as well. I tested that with an mp4 and it worked. Only problem is the lack of a smooth transition. It goes from splashscreen to a background image with a small window box, similar to picture in picture. Then it plays it. Is there a way to have this play immediately following the splashscreen?
Last question: Subtitles: Is there a way for the offset to go to the movie screen as it has in older skins? It seems to keep me on the subtitles menu so I can't see if the offset is matching up. I have to keep going back and forth and guessing.
Thank you!

Hello everyone!
I apologize for my silly question, I can't seem to find the wall view for my movies.
I've went though the new views and can't seem to find it, recreate it.
The closest thing is view 7 (if I remember correctly), but it's not really utilizing the screen like wall view used to.
Digital Clock Screensaver with a lot of options - check it out!

Hi,

Skin settings - General settings - Activate Playlist at skin start up
Then add the path to the mp4 file and test.

About the subtitles, explain a little more.

With regard to the splash screen, it's not quite what I'm looking for, and I know the space where the kodi logo populates can be replaced with a jpg or png. Here are a couple of video clips to demonstrate.

1. This is just the video file playing, after following your directions.
https://vimeo.com/839869196?share=copy

2. This second one is with a jpg file. (I forgot to remove the video file o. This) but I do hope you can see the difference.

Let me know if that helps.

With regard to the subtitles:
You're watching a movie with subtitles, and the subtitles speed up or slow down compared to the video.

In this skin, I go to Subtitles-Configure>Subtitle Offset. Upon doing so, you can't see the movie at all, as it keeps the menu open and you have to adjust it without being able to watch the movie or subtitles to make sure they line up.
On the old skins, it would take the offset and put it at the top of the screen so you could watch the video and subtitles as you make the adjustments.
I hope all this info helps you understand the trouble I'm having and the results I'm looking for. Thank you.

About the video splash, I need to test a little more to try one way to work.

About subtitles:

Edit system/keymaps/keyboard.xml file, FullscreenVideo item area, add 2 new lines

 <left mod="ctrl">subtitledelayminus</left>
 <right mod="ctrl">subtitledelayplus</right>

You have now one way.

Another option is to create the same command in the remote.xml file, using other buttons to call the adjustments.

Well, I may have come across my issue on probably both of these issue but am perplexed. I am noticing that some of the files that should be under .kodi folder are not all there or not where they should be. NO clue HOW that ever happened. When I went to find the keyboard.xml under keymaps, keymaps was empty and was actually separated out from the system folder.
https://postimg.cc/8FhsY02P
https://postimg.cc/f33f0DSq

There is an application_keyboard.xml, and application_mouse.xml are both under a folder peripheral_data.
https://postimg.cc/sQsPHS0q

I'm also missing the advancedsettings.xml, and there was one other folder or file I saw in a post but forgot what that one was.
https://postimg.cc/2Lq10Smg

Would it be safe to move the application_keyboard.xml to the keymaps folder, or does that serve a separate purpose? The only thing showing in applications_keyboards.xml is <settings />
I feel like my file structure is severely jacked up cause I just noticed the file location you gave me isn't under the system folder. It's under the .kodi folder.

It's all very odd. Good news, though! I don't know if you remember out of the 100s you help, but I was pretty "green" with Kodi(still learning a lot), but I never understood where everyone was changing code. I figured it out so I can definitely do updates, corrections, and additions to code where needed! Got a bluetooth keyboard for my system that works great.

Just let me know. We're making progress, and thank you VERY much for your help!!

Don't assume your folder/file structure is messed up just because it is different from an example given. The folder structure will vary depending on the OS, device and install method. It looks like you are using an Android devise and unfortunately I don't have any first hand knowledge using Kodi on an Android OS, I only use Windows 10 devices.

I can however offer you some insight on the advancesettings.xml. It is not created when installing Kodi, it is a user created file. So if you haven't created it you won't have one.

The other thing I suggest is not moving any existing files. Create new keymap.xml file and place it in the appropriate location. You might even try checking the Kodi repo, there used to be an addon called Keymap Editor (or something similar).

There are also Kodi Wiki articles that explain keymap files and OS specific file locations, you may find them useful.

That's fair. Thank you for letting me know. I assumed from convo I was ha ing about the issues, being instructed to follow a particular path and advising of the device and software I was using, I was being told to go to something I should have there.

I do have the ability to edit. Is the keymap editor different from the standard editing I would do for other files? Or is this one built specific tothe keymap folder itself? for the code I would need entered into the appropriate locations, is there somewhere for me to copy and paste? Maybe in Kodi Wiki?

Are there specific folders and files that should be in the keymap editor? I'm guessing, based on info from other user, I should at least have the keyboard.xml file.
It's strange to me, my remote and Bluetooth keyboard work and interact with Kodi. Not sure how that's possible without the keyboard.xml or
The remote.xml.

I will check out Kodi Wiki again. I was I. There looking and couldn't find any code info or links for getting code. I did see the file location info.
***found keymap editor and the keyboard.xml code.***

Thank you for your help. I'm continually learning more and more and enjoying it. Soaking it in like a sponge. lol

I believe the reason keyboards and remotes work by default is that there are default keymaps in the \kodi\system\keymaps folder which is different from the \userdata\keymaps folder where you save user created keymaps which is indeed empty by default.

I wish I could say that was the case. Unfortunately, it's not. The System folder is empty, too. 😕

Perhaps the peripheral_data folder?

Regardless, I found the code for the keyboard.xml and have it created. I just need to try it when I get back home and see if it works.

that is not the kodi system folder, that is the system folder under the kodi userdata folder

the kodi system folder is generally inaccessible on android

if you were in the system folder you would see the contents installed from the apk, lib files (.so), a python folder as well as the system installed addons folder

So there are 3 system folders and not 2? There are other areas where the apk, lib files and pyo files are. Oh well, I'll look in Kodi then, if I go under file manager, yes? It should all certainly be there, if everything is technically operating and functioning properly.

you can try adding special://xbmc to the file manager, kodi might have access to it but in general the entire /data/data folder is secured on android so outside of this option i dont think its possible

I see. Ok. Thank you. Will be back home within the hour and will jump back on to try and get this figured out.
