This is HDHR Prime. Hopefully the log is sufficient. If not i can send you the full fresh log.

We almost never need the settings file since the log contains any settings values that differ from the default. Try changing UseHDHRTranscodeForDlna back to the default, i.e.:

<UseHDHRTranscodeForDlna>false</UseHDHRTranscodeForDlna>

save, then restart swmc, then kodi. Let me know if that makes a difference.

Ok I will try tonight after I get to home

[UPDATE] That definitely helped now it is down to 4 - 5 seconds. Is this the expected speed?

That's funny that it helped, because after I posted I looked at the code and your log and was convinced it would make no difference. If you don't mind, can you try it off and on again to confirm it? I think maybe something else is different on your system. Or I need to stare at the code a little more.

To answer your question though, I have the same tuners and I get an HD live tv stream starting in 3s (helix). There is probably some system dependence though, so I am not sure how big a variance to expect, so it might be interesting to hear what others get. is the hdhr firmware up to date? (I ask, but have never bothered to check mine).

I changed the settings back it now takes me 7 to 8 seconds so little longer. I have I5 ivy processor and 8 GB RAM. Only things running are Mysqlserver, serverwmc, kodi. Since this is basically used for HTPC nothing else. I will check hdhr firmware too and see if there are any updates.

I thought of another thing to try: Have you added your tuners as a video source? How long does it take to start live-tv from there? For me, it is about the same or slightly faster compared to pvr, around 2-3s

Yes i did try that and it is also taking 2 - 3 s for me. I am looking into XMLTV guide option for now as i try to fix this issue.

DLNA works amazing here, channel tuning is almost instant compared to ~3 seconds for non-DLNA which is still great. As per the limitations you mentioned in the first post of this thread I'm trying to decide whether to configure as DLNA or non-DNLA. Is the inability to RW or FF really Kodi limitation or is it just a limitation of DLNA streaming? If there is no temp wtv file being created how would it be possible to RW or FF the DLNA stream? Maybe what I'm asking is what happens when you pause a DLNA stream on the Kodi client, is DLNA stream being saved locally as a temp file on the client or is this even possible? Sorry for the questions, just trying to better understand this issue. Its not uncommon for us to pause a show while watching it and then return and watch it delayed but it sounds like this would mean no ability to FF if using DLNA.

Its a limitation of dlna streaming, but I don't see why kodi can't buffer the tuner output so that they could enable FF/RW and long pauses in dlna mode. They must be doing some buffering already, because you pan pause for a short amount of time and then FF, you just can't pause for a long time (that's what I remember anyway, I personally don't run in dlna mode). You really just have to experiment with it yourself and see if its something you can live with.

Love the speed of running in DLNA mode, honestly channel changing is almost instantaneous. We're getting into areas above my familiarity but is it technically feasible for a Kodi PVR client to have the the option to create a temp file when running in DLNA so that it would have functional FF and RW? Time shifting on client, simple right? Wink Not sure if you have any contact with the Kodi PVR dev team but it would an interesting feature if it could be implemented.

I just posted a question/feature request in the PVR developer section but now looking back through some of the posts and participation/feedback from devs I may be talking to myself.

Have you tried changing cache settings?? http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize>
<readbufferfactor>10</readbufferfactor>
</network>
</advancedsettings>

Will cache all filesystems to the drive so it will cache as much as there is room on the drive
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.
