Kodi Media Player Options with 3D MVC & HD Audio

Try stopping playback of a 23.976 video, then restarting and press 'Menu' on Epson remote and check info tab again... it may now show "23.97". If not, it may show it the 3rd time you try.

Thanks for the tip. Popcornmix has more info on this subject here.

It appears that Epson is getting the frame rate information from sampling the pixel clock rate. The discrepancy is from low precision or delay in taking the samples.

Interesting, thanks for that link.

Hdmkv, since you have almost identical projector what is your opinion on "Frame interpolation"?

After some experiments and testing I settled on frame interpolation 1 for regular 2D movies on scale 0 to 3. Low setting helps to sharpen the image with panning scenes and it does not eliminate true 24 frames experience. Any missing frames are clearly visible on my 150" wall with or without frame interpolation.

3D.
I use original Epson 3D glasses (2 of them came with my pj). My preferred mode for 3D on this projector with active glasses is high (max 3) for frame interpolation. I can't find any information and I don't have equipment to measure this but it looks like the glasses are working at 120Hz fixed speed independent from the source material and projector frame rate. At 24 fps it looks like the 3D glasses are out of sync to video frame rate. With frame interpolation to the max. glasses will sync on any high speed interpolated frame without noticeable pulsing and skips.

I have 3 sets of original Epson glasses and 2 "no name" from Ebay. The no name glasses were rated at 200 Hz. There is definitely more noticeable ghosting effect on no names specially on far objects.
Epson is advertising Bright 3D Drive Technology for this pj.
"Bright 3D Drive Technology doubles the image refresh rate from 240 Hz to 480 Hz to provide greater brightness when viewing 3D content." I don't know how this is all connected but 3D with frame interpolation to the max looks best.

Hi, i want to buy a Intel DN2820FYKH with 4GB RAM and SSD. Can anyone say, how the Performance with Aeon Nox or another great looking skin is with a big Database and Wallpapers and Fanarts?
Everything smooth?

Aeon Nox isn't an issue. I've tried it, and now using Artic.

@3DBuff, off the top of my head, I think I have the same settings as you. For glasses, most of mine are these cheap ones (got them for $18 each). They quite good.

How is the fan noise on the NUCs?

On my Celeron NUC DN2820FYKH, it's barely audible (powered on, when idle)... but, I also keep all my HT gear behind a closet Smile.

My i5-4250U Haswell NUC is reasonably quiet, but I'd put the Asus Chromebox as quieter. Both are audible during quiet passages of classical music, but then so is the clicking of my satellite PVR hard drive when it starts recording...

I must say watching 1080p@50Hz looks pretty good on my 4k Sony Android TV with Kodi v16.1 PT installed

Can you watch any 720/50p or 1080/50i native news channels with tickers (the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen)? The BBC News Channel ticker in the UK is a great test of motion rendition (if you see it at 60Hz it screams 'wrong' to me)

I'm not from the UK so can't watch it officialy, but a 25fps stream of BBC News looks the same on RPi or my TV.
Would be handy to have sample files we could test these sort of problematic combinations Smile

25p streams are much trickier to see this on than 50p or 50i streams. The BBC News Channel is a 50i native source, so you really need to watch a 50i or 50p version of it for full motion quality, which will show the 10Hz judder introduced by repeating 1 frame every 5 to get from 50 to 60 really clearly.

The 720/50p BBC News Channel stream in iPlayer in the UK shows it very clearly on platform that can access it (Android, Apple TV etc.) and the 1080/50i or 576/50i off-air DVB-S/S2/T/T2 stuff really shows it (and with the 50i stuff you can also see how good the deinterlacing is as well as a bonus!) Not sure if the 720/50p live channel stream will be available outside the UK.

(One of the best things the BBC have done recently is to introduce 50p encoding for their iPlayer Catch Up TV platform - with both 960x540/50p and 1280x720/50p profiles added to the adaptive streaming - so native 50i stuff like sport and entertainment is now available in full motion at 50p, not half motion at 25p, on supported platforms. It's made it close to 'off-air' quality)

If you are using it for Movies, the sound will take care off it.
When i was setting it up and it was on my top of desk, i could barely hear any noise..

This is asked over and over, google helps. But to answer it, no, Nvidia has not developed the firmware to support it (yet?) and currently is not capable. It says this right on the first page dude!

No. You can play HSBS/HTAB (which is effectively 2D) but you can't play 3D MVC with Frame Packed 24p Full HD output.
