High speed memory cards on Pi 2
#1
Hi,
I've bought a Pi 2 with the NOOB (class 4) mini SD card.

I have looked on the different speed tests that the ultra cards give (Sandisk and Samsung EVO) and the results are quite good.

I was wondering if I would have any benefit from these cards when I only use the Pi 2 for Kodi ?

A SD card with faster random 4K write performance will give you a speed bump when scraping TV Shows and Movies to your local library. This would also apply to Torrents or any other Add-Ons that will be doing lots of random 4K writing.

Otherwise its only a tiny speed increase if just using the RPi2 for streaming.
The underlying Kodi code has been nicely optimised for the RPi2 - 4 cpu core performance lately. Especially with the OpenElec Isengard test builds.
This is where the most noticeable Kodi GUI speed increases have been coming from.

Summary, if you decide to get another SD card get this one as it has very few issues and is fast for the price paid

Samsung 16GB PLUS Micro SDHC with Adapter - up to 48MB/s - UHS-1 Class 10 Memory Card

All the official NOOBs cards should have pretty good random read/write performance. If you need a little more than that, I've had great performance from this guy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E1XI6N0

That's been replaced by the Samsung Evo cards which also seem to give good results.
