Warning Kodi does not work on iOS 9 yet!
#46
Right now? No. In the future? no one knows this yet.
#47
Ouch, 604 compiler warnings targeting arm64 for iOS9. Boy is clang real picky now...

hi I'm getting this problem after I've done make step and build is successful
I'm using Xcode 7 and doing it for iOS 9 sdk target
the make -c tools/depends/target/xbmc step is giving me an error ending like this
$ make -C tools/depends/target/xbmc

You guys do know that 87% of all iOS base is on iOS 8+ ? With iOS 9 coming out that will only grow (12% of iOS base was on iOS 9 in the first day). Support for older devices will eventually have to reach end of life (I hope everyone agrees on that ?). If someone really wanted Kodi they can simply upgrade there device, know one will downgrade there device thats for sure.

All that being said, I agree its to early to make brash decisions like that without fully vetting the situation. I for one am fine with the workaround provided by Memphiz (trying it right now). Memphiz thank you for all the effort you put into this.

Yeh its not working for me either but I am making it through without errors..

@pwned4ever: If you were mucking around with Xcode 7 beta attempting to make it work with iOS you might want to try: Xcode_select -r

@Memphiz: This patch did not work for me, I did the following:

1. m -rf /Users/Shared/xbmc-depends/
2. git clean -xfd in Kodi source directory
3. git pull origin (origin is my kodi repo)
4. git reset --hard
5. made the changes manually to the 3 files in your patch (was not too sure about fetching and merging directly from your repo)
6. Followed the readme.ios instructions
7. After make xcode_depends, launched Xcode and opened the project file
8. In the build settings\code signing section I changed my certificate to: "iOS Developer: <my_name> (<serial#>)
9 I also tried with the generic code signing cert "iOS Developer" but didn't work

You mention in he readme.ios file:
"Just select the "iPhone Developer" shortcut.
Its also important that you select the signing on all 4 spots"

I don't see that option "iPhone Developer" (maybe a typo on your behalf??) only "iOS Developer" which I have also tried... I wonder if my paid developer account certs are causing a conflict with the generic ones.. not sure...

Any help\guidance would be appreciated.. I am a developer (not iOS).. I have built Kodi plenty of times, just not on Xcode 7 and iOS 9.

It was called iPhone Developer before - now iOS Developer (Internally to the Codesign Script it is still iPhone Developer...)

So

1. iOS Developer is right (and it only will work with that selected!)
2. Ensure that you are really opening Xcode7 in Case you have multiple versions installed
3. What does "not working" mean in your Case?

@pwned4ever
Also i really hate people who Post their crap directly into the Forum - use pastebin.com for verbose Output like that for god sake... - what is even worse are people which are impatient

Well congrats pwned4ever made it onto my ignore lists which has only 5 entries so far - now he is owned for ever...

Well congrats pwned4ever made it onto my ignore lists which has only 5 entries so far - now he is owned for ever...

Hey Memphis, so I finally got it working. I have a feeling it had something to do with me being a paid developer. I had to wipe out my existing provisioning profile and developer certs (did this from developer.apple.com). Then did the following:

1. Logged off my iCloud account in Xcode.
2. Closed Xcode and rebooted my machine (a paranoid step I am sure)
3. After reboot, launched Xcode, logged back into my iCloud account
4. In the build settings/code signing section I picked "iOS Developer" for all the 4 options
5. I also selected "Automatic" in provisioning profiles
6. I built Kodi, it throw a provisioning profile error and I let it fix it on its own
7. Voila, it worked!! so exciting.

Again, I think people will encounter something similar if going from a paid developer account to trying to use there iCloud account.

Memphis thanks a bunch for that patch, I can confirm 100% its working fully.

So far I installed it on my iPhone 5S, next up iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. Which I am sure I will have no problems.

Hmm.. weird... so its working but only when I run it from Xcode and its tethered to my mac... Otherwise when I unplug form mac and try to run it on its own it crashes and does not run.... Wife is yelling at me now so no chance to look further until tonight... but this is the error its throwing... I think its throwing the error it when it launches via Xcode and on its own... not sure why it would work tethered but not on its own... will have to confirm later.. but this is weird..

1. i am also a paying ios developer and have my cert and profile in place with no issues
2. Apple removed a backward compatibility thing with video toolbox as it seems - to be able to run without xcode you need to comment this line and simply run the build in xcode again:

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...ommand#L81

this one is also not the final solution as it will break compatibility with ios5.1 again ... narf

Hello Memphiz.
I did compile all with no error, targeting SDK 9.0 (with ./configure command).
All compiled and installed on device, but it crash on load (on dylib load error).

Could it be sign issue ?

Which dylib? If it is libsmbclient - then its signing issue (select iOS Developer in all 4 Spots of the signing identity in the Xcode project) - if its about videotoolbox and only when not running in the Debugger then its what i have written in my Last Post - i also am assuming that you Applied my Commit from some posts back which Sets the deployment Target to 8.0 - else it will also not work (and giving an error with libsmbclient aswell )
